We only had one afternoon to spend from 2.00 pm onwards so it was great that it was so close to the Nijo Castle, then we walked down Nishiki Market near Shijo Dori. There is a nice little ramen restaurant in the corner of the street opposite Nijo Castle which we liked as they even have English menu.

Staff were friendly and we tried to tip the valet, but she refused our money and later we were advised by Japanese friends that this is customary as hotel already charges tax. It was very honest of her. Also, family room was spacious and fantastic. -

have spa on top floor which is a bonus for after shopping, although its a bit small but it still good. Spacious and comfortable room. Staff extremely attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Whilst WIFI is not available everywhere, we were provided with a router for the room that had a fast and reliable connection. Very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

Reception was very polite and quick. The entire house was cleen and propper. The hotel lies on one of Kyoto's main streets, but the room was very calm. -
