The owner keeps the house extremely clean and is very approachable, always ready to help and has a great knowledge of the area and hidden gems! The location is ideal and very lovely, in the middle of the Gion district, with easy access to many key sites, as well as restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend this hotel. - The location is superb for a taste of real Kyoto. Beautiful streets full of temples around. We were in a two-room (suite) japanese room with bathrooom during Gion Matsuri so that price was high but reasonable. This is a family Ryokan and hence lacks services. The dedication and desire to please of the family that runs the hotel highly compensates. I would certainly like to return.
