Being close to Metro, trains and buses. Helpfulness of staff. Here's what we liked: the location (truly right across from the Gare du Nord), service (friendly and they quickly arranged for us to have the room much earlier than noon), the room was small (of course! this is Paris!) but clean and attractive and had the typical little Paris balcony with nice view of the Gare . . . we were very pleased with this hotel!.

Being right across the street from the train station meant that we could get any where in the city and we had a blast in our final 18 hours in Europe. The staff at the New Hotel Gare Du Nord was super nice, but we actually ended up staying in the Hotel Richmond where the staff seemed perpetually confused.The hotel is located right across the street from the Gare du Nord. There is a metro stop twenty feet from the hotel's front lobby, so it was extremely easy to get around town. The front desk staff were extraordinarily nice and helpful at all hours and made us feel very comfortable. The cleaning staff also did a great job every day and we felt like it was a very tidy room. We were moved to their hotel next door so we didnt actually stay in the New Hotel Gare Du Nord. We knew the hotel was only two stars and that was fine for us as we had four children with us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room and hotel were basic but clean and opposite the station.Its obvious proximity to Gare du Nord which suited our itinerary. It also had a lift and the bathroom was huge for a European standard room. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. very convenient for the station after which it is named. Good Air Con in room and cleaned daily and towels replaced daily and we were given a room away from the busy front street and all the noises etc. The front desk Gentlemen were very helpful on directions and especillay recommending buses instead of the Metro found this very good.. buses that is !!!. This was a great location and the hotel had our room ready by 11am. Therefore, we could leave our bags at the hotel rather than check them at the train station. I did not have breakfast in the hotel, as better breakfast are found in cafes at much cheaper price. having to step up over a doorway "lip" to get out of the bathroom...that's dangerous. Road noise 24 hours a day, but that is to be expected with this location. the T V did not work at all.It was impossible to close the curtains to exclude all extraneous light from the street. It was a lot noisy outside, because it was hot we slept with the window open I woke up to people screaming and carrying on at 3 am. Shut the windows and fell right back to sleep (positive note the windows were amazingly sound proof).... But then I woke up sweating like a dog because the bed had rubber sheets on it. Rubber sheets? Does the hotel cater to 2 year olds?. The hotel is located right across the street from the Gare du Nord. Unfortunately there is always noise on the street and I sometimes found it hard to sleep, even on the top floor. And curtains didn't block out all of the train station's lights, which made it harder to sleep. My only grumble would be that the prices at the hotel itself were over 130 euros cheaper than we paid!. A little noisy but expected in this location. The room was clean, but the warn sheets and hanging wallpaper made it feel dirty. However, if you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night it works perfect.Room was not non-smoking as requested. Room (double bed)/bathroom basic but need some TLC. no electric hot water kettle. nothing very good for the price. Insonorisation was bad and there were noisy people staying at the hotel. Rooms fairly cramped. noise. security. Bed lenin was not upto the mark, very basic room for nearly the cost of good hotel. room decor dated, lift stops between floors so steps to negotiate with luggage. The room was very dark. Cleanliness, tourist information. breakfast not worth the money... not flexible by even an hour on checkout time...A bit dirty/tired looking carpets/decor, bed uncomfortable (not quite a double bed) with rubber sheet - very sweaty!. Coming from N America, I expected more: it is a basic railway hotel and should be described as such. small room. the recepcion and entrance of the hotel sets my expectations very low. I thought I was getting inside a hostel. Small single rooms, shower curtain too short (all wet), clearly used by smokers, while advertised as non-smoking. No breakfast included; all in all relatively expensive. Noisy, small room.
