The theme of Refúgio is rustic and tasteful. I love this area of Rio and was pleased to learn that a budget-friendly, clean, comfortable and modern hostel has opened here! The staff are simply fantastic and made every possible effort for all the guests during my stay. I'll definitely return! -

New Hostel only opened 5 months before so facilities are pristine
condition. Stylish design, Staff wear casual but 'branded' tops.
This is a classy joint in the 'cultural' area, don't be
fooled by the aged outside appearance..the inside is superb. I also
participated in the two free bbq nights during my stay and on two nights

Supercool hostel with really nice staff. We were two people staying
there for 9 nights. We met awesome people and had a really great time.
May be the best location you could get during the carnival! Easy to get
to Copacabana and Ipanema Beach. The design there is also really cool!
We really liked that it has pool table, bar, kitchen, barbeque area and
always free toilets and showers. We´re def. Going back!
