Salvador Hotels

Choosing a hotel online can be hit and miss - this one is definately a hit! Parking, inexpensive breakfast, wonderful room designs and an occasional balconly with wonderfully friendly staff in a great location within walking distance of pretty much everything and right on the transport network for those with limited mobility or more LA concept of walkable. I adore Hotel Studio do Carmo. Every aspect of our stay was superb. The truly friendly and competent reception got us off to a great start, arranging courteous and efficient transport from the airport to the hotel, and then orienting my friend and me in our surroundings. The lobby itself is simple, solid, and breathtaking -- the titles, the wood, the Italian and Brazilian furniture, and the artwork put us at ease. We just returned from a 3-night stay at this jewel; I cannot understand why this hotel is not contained in any of the mainstream US travel guides (Fodors, Frommers, etc.) nor did my friends in Rio or Sao Paulo know of it. Staying here turned out to be the highlight of our visit to Salvador. I echo all of the positive reviews which precede this one and cannot stress enough how exquisite this experience was. We stayed for only two nights on our way from Brasil to the Netherlands, Europe. The staff is very helpfull, breakfast is wel taken care off, the room was good. Free internet is a plus. The location next to the sea is nice. The connection by public transport to the center of Salvador is easy. The commemorable location is special because the hotel used to be originally the house of the famous Brasilian writer Vinicius de Moraes. Further more it is located close to the international Airport of S - Gino

We stayed at this hotel in March as part of a 6 stop holiday in Brazil. The hotel is mainly for conferences but we were made extremely welcome. It is slightly outside of the centre of Salvador, but is fine for buses (directly outside there is a bus to Pelorhino) and there were always taxis available. The rooms are 70's in style, but very clean with fantastic views from all rooms. We spent lots of time by the pool and the staff were helpful and pleasant. An associate and I started off our adventure on shaly grounds as the reserved hotel was a huge disapointment and the person I encountered there could not have been more hostile. I turned our rented car out to the main highways and worked my way down to the beach front highway with the promise of pulling into the first decent looking hotel on the beach. We saw two hotels and turned into the driveway expecting to go left, but the driveway took us to the right which was the front door to the Othon. - David

Bahiacafe is a small hotel located at the Praça da Sé right at Pelourinho (the historic centre of Salvador), very close to Elevador Lacerda and all the amazing churches, restaurants and museums. The owners are very helpful and will give you good indications on where to go, which transport to use and in booking your next stop. Michel is originally from Belgium and speaks French, Dutch, English and Portuguese. The rooms are big enough and although with basic furniture, everything is of good qualit - Ankit

I stayed two months from february to april 2009 because I had an exhibition in Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia de Salvador da Bahia. This hotel is very special. It is called Barocco because it is dedicated to music. the director of the hotel is the player of the orgue of the cathedral de Bahia. So in the pousada there is a concert place to rehearse piano and organ. also another rehearsal place for the choir of the cathedral. so twice a week you can hear a divine music during one hour around 7pm - Phillip
