The owners I believe live in Italy, but their staff more than take care of you. Excellent place. For some reason Salvador seemed quite - We enjoyed our stay at Pousada Colonial very much. We stayed only one night and wish we have stayed longer. The hotel is an old beautiful building located close (10-15 minute walk) to the historical center of Salvador. We loved bright and tasteful interior of the hotel. The room was beautiful and clean. Staff was wonderful, most of them spoke English.   Hotel rates were resaonable and the hotel itself was in good condition. Don´t expect caviar but the basics were good. Hotel staff friendly and courteous. Location was pretty good although not on the beachfront. - Comfortable rooms, excelent location between Pelourinho and Barra.

  We where a bit uncertain where to stay in Salvador given its reputation of not being the worlds most secure place... This Pousada is located about 15-20 min walk from the Pelorinhou which at first glance (we arrived late night) may seem a bit insecure. But that impression was wrong, the walk to Pelorinho is beautiful with interesting buildings and... what people say » also feeling secure (of course avoid walking after midnight). We preferred staying a bit outside Pelorinhou as it is much calmer here. The pousada it - location is safe and very pleasant, just few minutes of walk to Pelourinho. rooms are clean and have a very pleasant atmosphere. tasty breakfast on terrace was a very nice start for a day in Salvador. Zelina (the owner) was very helpful. they also offer transport from the airport.
