Clean and comfy room which is more than I bargain for. I wish Abbotsford Guest House can appear in other countries so I don't need to spend time searching for a good hotel anymore.   My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and we didn't want to leave! From the time we arrived we were welcomed like family and we received excellent advice about things to do and see in Edinburgh.   The Edinburgh Lodge was welcoming and friendly. The staff are friendly and informative. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, offering en-suite facilites with added touches. Nice breakfast room and service. Bathrooms modern and clean. If you want to stay out of central downtown, are driving a car and take buses and tours, this works very well. Some signs of wear and tear here and there but it has the character of an older building which was exactly what I was looking for in Scotland.   Really enjoyed our stay - you could not meet a nicer or more genuine couple than Dot and her husband. The room was really nice with a lovely shower and big tv. Breakfast each morning was brilliant and had a nice choice of a fry or continental. The chef even gave us change for the bus - The room was spacious, lovely big bed, bathroom was fab, very clean and very comfortable.The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location is outside of the city but the bus stops every 5 mins just outside of the hotel so its ideal and you avoid the heavy parking charges for staying in the centre. Breakfast was good with a hot and cold buffet available. We would definatley stay here again.

The house is in walking distance to the castle and the royal mile. There are several good restaurants in walking distance (5-10 minutes).

  We booked a double and got a very spacious and comfortable room downstairs with 2 beds (queen & a twin). Check-in was quick. Heaters worked great for the chilly Dec weather. The shower always had hot water. Breakfast buffet consisted of cereal, toast, jam, yogurt, cheeses, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and tea was perfect to start the day. Lots of places to eat nearby. - The B&B has really nice, with high ceilings and mouldings. Owner was very friendly and a nice welcoming host. Bed was comfortable, rooms were warm. Free Wi-Fi good for checking out local restaurants etc. Is about a mile walk from train station, with a nice bar restaurant called "Reverie" near-by on the way in to town. Breakfast was good, with coffee or tea to suit. We would stay again.
