  The rooms at the Chelmswood Motel are warm and comfortable and in Taupo in the winter this is very important. You - The natural hot pool in your own room was very welcome on a very cold night. The Motel is position well for an early morning walk by the lake & the courtesy bus is a good idea as the motel is a few ks from the center. the Staff were very helpful. Would like to stay again in the summer to make good use of the outdoor BBQ and out door furniture and watch the sun go down and hopefully watch a loverly sunset with my wife whilst enjoying a botle of wine.

  The owners are really friendly and helpful. The location is great - just cross the road if you want a swim in the Lake. There are also plenty of eateries a few minutes drive away. Parking was easy at the motel. The accommodation was comfortable and provided everything we needed. We had a room with a spa bath which although slightly dated in style was a nice touch and - I like the studio units with spa bath. Able to relax in the evening. close to the lake edge with a view of the lake from the balcony. Clean units with comfortable beds. Close to the shopping. Had everything we required for the one nights stay. Was lovely to wake up and go for a walk on the lakes front in the morning.

  Brand new facilities, newly and very tastefully decorated, good kitchen equipment, outdoor patio, very well located by the lake and the town centre. The staff were so friendly and went to great efforts to make sure the cot was comfortable for our baby and even provided a hooded baby towel which was really useful. The rooms (and we stayed in two different ones) are very nicely decorated and have some unexpected but very welcome extras These included , a small stereo system with an Ipod dock, free cookies (yum!), magazines to read and a separate freezer. The service was friendly and helpful.

  Loved the friendly owners, the lovely room with a private back years small enclave to sit and have a morning coffee or a drink after tramping around all day. The spa tub was a wonderful soak after being on one's feet all day. Also, Murray was kind enough to drive us to the bus depot the necpxt day thus saving us a walk or a taxi fare. Not to mention his sending off a jacket I had left behind at a restaurant which he offered to pick up and send on to up to our next destination - The unit was very clean and comfortable, and most importantly for us 'soft' Aucklanders, it was WARM!! (It was minus 2 deg overnight and we didn't feel cold at all.) Second year in a row that we have stayed there, easy to access restaurants, shops, and the skifield is an easy scenic drive from Taupo.

  To be honest, I was expecting a bit of a let-down with this place - not sure why, just a feeling I had. Possibly the name? In any case, it was completely the opposite - really happy with my stay at the Reef Resort. We had a lake-view room for less than $200 on a very busy weekend, which I thought was pretty good value. The hosts (sorry didn't catch thei - Friendliest host over the past 11 days in NZ, surprising given it's a sizeable establishment. Beautiful private-access to lake shore which has a natural thermal brook serenely bubbling away into the lake. They had some plumbing done the night we were there, and didn't have hot water from 9pm till 7am, and in kind recompense, upgraded us to the nicest room of our trip, with stunning panoramic lakefront views. We simply didn't want to leave the room at all!

  The service was superb. The owner is extremely friendly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We knew we would arrive late and the owner made arrangements to make our check in easy. I did not feel at all as if I was an inconvenience due to my late arrival.
