Pleasant motor inn right on the foreshore of Lake Taupo. Good value for a clean and comfortable room. Excellent facilities provided in the room. Good size bathroom with a spa bath and separate shower. Motel slighlty removed from the main restuarant area, which meant driving but also meant noise reduction.

To be honest, I was expecting a bit of a let-down with this place - not
sure why, just a feeling I had. Possibly the name?
In any case, it was completely the opposite - really happy with my stay at the Reef Resort.
We had a lake-view room for less than $200 on a very busy weekend, which I thought was pretty good value.

Friendliest host over the past 11 days in NZ, surprising given it's a sizeable establishment. Beautiful private-access to lake shore which has a natural thermal brook serenely bubbling away into the lake. They had some plumbing done the night we were there, and didn't have hot water from 9pm till 7am, and in kind recompense, upgraded us to the nicest room of our trip, with stunning panoramic lakefront views. We simply didn't want to leave the room at all!

We loved everything. As the hotel was off the main road and slightly elevated there was a fabulous view across the lake and little traffic noise. The pool was a perfect temperature for the kids and getting them out was a problem. The room was spacious and very comfortable and felt just like home. Loved the underfloor heating. It was just perfect.

The unit was very clean and comfortable, and most importantly for us 'soft' Aucklanders, it was WARM!! (It was minus 2 deg overnight and we didn't feel cold at all.) Second year in a row that we have stayed there, easy to access restaurants, shops, and the skifield is an easy scenic drive from Taupo.
