  The hotel, while an older building, had been recently renovated and what a pleasant surprise with all the character & artistic flair in the room (and even the hallway!) The sofa bed actually had 2 separate beds, so we could have had m - I stayed here very recently for six nights while attending a conference downtown. Let me say it was totally worth the extra effort and cost in cabs to get downtown ( half hour by bus, 15 minutes 13 bucks by cab). The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional, from the cleaning staff, valet parking attendants, front desk folks and management. I get the feeling people love their jobs and want to deliver good service to the guests. The bar downstairs is awesome and deserves its own review. On

  I was very welcomed here in lieu of the fact that 90pct of the clientele here was half my age. Great atmosphere and location here.   Great central location, close to San Diego's bus and trolley lines, shopping in vintage shops, lots of restaurants in gay-friendly Hillcrest area. Nice continental breakfast included and staff ensured that foods were replenished and dining area cleaned constantly. Hotel caters to tourist couples, singles, and families. It lacked a corkscrew, I asked for it and is was brought to the room within 5 minutes. And the best: the location! Vibrant Hillcrest accross the street, a new Vons 5 min walking and close to all major roads.

  This was my 18th hotel in 30 days and was the best. The gaslight district is a short walk and there is heaps to do in the area. The staff went out of there way to advise on things to do. There was always a cab there if it was needed. Complimentary shuttle is also available at all times. - I liked the fact that it was a city-feeling hotel, old school with modern touches. The hotel was on the hilly part of downtown San Diego, overlooking the City itself with a distant view of the Harbor; along with a walkway extending outward with table and chairs for outside sitting to catch the incredible breeze. I liked the personal touch of a "sail boat" greeting card, which everyone signed, placed in the hotel room.

  Excellent location, especially if you're driving: right off the freeway, yet walking distance to Downtown and Gaslamp, also just a short bus ride to Balboa Park (#7). Comfortable room with modern facilities. All clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I observed at least a half-dozen fast food restaurants and one upscale restaurant and a couple of take-outs, all within a half-dozen blocks. The heart of downtown San Diego is within 15 minutes walking distance.

  Easy to find and a really good location, within easy walking distance from downtown. On arrival we got a warm and friendly welcome. We had arrived early but that wasn't an issue, able to leave car in car park and following the advice. The room had all the usual refinements but some nice little touches like swee - It was close to the trolley and I could take that to the convention center. The desk staff, Dustin, went out of his way to call me back and help me with changing a reservation, even though I was using an online booking agent. The bed was comfortable.
