We were making a first visit to the University. Innkeeper Thorri was very helpful and kind. As we walked around Reykjavik, we never saw a better value for this level of amenities and character. We love staying in historic and cultured homes like Gastafell. The 1 bedroom apartment was fully equipped and in a wonderful quiet location but literally minutes from everything. For extremely reasonable price you get comfortable sleeping place with bathroom in the room and access to the kitchen, where it's possible to cook your own meal.   The reception had been really nice and helpful. He recommended a transitional Icelandic restaurant to me and helped me booking tours and offered tourism advices. I love the kitchen, it's cozy, clean and open for 24 hours. It is such a nice and warm hostel and it is highly recommended. - It was so clean, and you didn't check in, you got an email telling you how to get into the hostel / your room. I arrived at 2 am and went right in and went to sleep. It is nicely decorated and so many things to read to show you what to do. The owner called a bus for me to get me back to the airport and I saw her eating lunch with some guests - she is very nice. I felt very safe.
