  on arrival the manager spoke to us in very good English and was fantastic, very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. The room and facilities were excellent, as was the weather. There are shops and fuel stations near by and some beautiful countryside within 2 minutes drive - Room a bit small but weell arranged, almost brand new.   The town of Azay-Le-Rideau is beautiful, and a great stopover between Calais and SW France. Lots of bars and restaurants to explore, nice bar by the river for the children to paddle in. Our children also enjoyed riding their bikes around. The hotel is well located in the main part of town, and is a lovely building. Staff were really friendly and hel - The staff were very friendly and they had excellent advise on a couple of restaurants to eat. Azay-le-Rideau is a smaller town and we found that charming. The Azay-le-Rideau Chateau is right down the street! It was easy to drive to the other Chateaus in the area and avoid the bigger city of Tours (parking, noise, etc.). Breakfast in the courtyard was a wonderful way to start a day (and we are still wondering about the horns embedded in old wall...) For a family of 4 this hotel was an excellent

  Hotel Grand Monarque could not be better situated if you want to visit the chateau at Azay-le-Rideau. It's right at the heart of a beautiful town, but the cool courtyard and strong walls create a perfect haven. We stopped off, with children aged 14, 12 and 9, as a midway break on a drive to the Pyrenees. If yo - The location is very central. The hotel room was very quiet, with a tranquil view. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom nicely fitted. The hosts were pleasant and helpful, and responded to my requests very effectively. The public parking was just across the street.

  Azay le Rideau is a lovely town and the Ombre d' Azay was the perfect place to stay. The accomadation was terrific value for money and the Owner and her family could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was excellent and the breakfast very French.
