Azay le Rideau is a lovely town and the Ombre d' Azay was the perfect place to stay. The accomadation was terrific value for money and the Owner and her family could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was excellent and the breakfast very French. We returned home with a boot full of fine wines and a collection of happy holiday memories. Extremely welcoming and hospitable hosts. Best breakfast we have ever had in similar places - fabulous variety of local produce. Plenty of parking on site. Location in town centre but the large grounds give country feel.

Friendliness of the staff. It was by far the best French breakfast we have had. The standard of the decor in the room exceeded our expectation for a chambre d'hôte. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean with updated bathroom. A haven for garden lovers with all the plants, flowers, and trees surrounding the entrance. These are not dislikes but more suggestions, we only stayed for one night, install tv and tea /coffee making facilities in the room. The lobby is under renovation and the first impression when you arrive might not be good. The weather!. Nothing really, just needs a bit of finishing off downstairs. No facility for making tea/coffee in the room. Nothing!. Tricky entrance for cars with low ground clearance!. The place is unfinished - work in progress. A bit spartan. not all the facilities are finished. The owners are still in the process of doing up the buildings so there is a lot of building rubble, bare plaster-board walls with the accompanying cold, damp smell of building works. No air conditioning and there is insufficient signage to find the place. We had to search for it for 20 minutes. The room seemed unfinished. No pictures on the walls and no door between bathroom/toilet and bedroom. no television,no welcome tray,.
