  Reception staff - very friendly at each encounter. I was welcomed with unsolicited suggestions and free maps - very nice touch you would normally only see in a small country town. I am not that fussy but . . . I find dry irons in hotel rooms very frustratingly ineffective and a statement of mistrust. Could not speak more highly of the staff. Also good to be able to have dinner brought to our room.

We were there when a school group was also staying there, but because of the size of the resort, we didn't hear a peep out of them all night long.   We loved Canberra. As for the Diplomat, we enjoyed the proximity to Manuka, Kingston and the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets - the latter two within walking distance for the reasonably fit so we particularly enjoyed walking to them for breakfast in the morning.
