An ideal place for back-packers and anyone who wants to explore the countryside and coastal paths of north Devon. Lynmouth/Lynton are themselves worthy of a short visit anyway. The evening food we had in the bar was very good and there was plenty of it for a hearty appetite (their mushroom soup of the day was to die for). The full English and continental breakasts we had in the small restaurant were more than adequate. The hotel is an interesting rambling building with lots of character. alla recensioner »
Comfortable beds.
Friendly staff even after our little son set off fire alarms and other son's nose bled over bed sheets. Staff were extremely understanding even though I was so embarrassed!
Very quiet rooms.
Tasty breakfast.
Very good sized family room.
Very central to walk around Lynton which is such a pretty village.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Staff were extremely helpful, as were regulars in the bar- one of whom left her pint to help me find my way from the main road through the maze of tiny steep lanes to the car park (thank you Vicky!) We enjoyed a great evening meal in the bar.
Very accommodating staff. The new owners have clearly made tremendous efforts in raising the standards and in improving facilities in this old hotel. Car parking and in the centre of a delightful town are key features. Meals available were excellent.
The price was good. The evening meals are good to excellent. Reception and staff very friendly.
Location very good for the area around. The room was basic but the beds were very comfortable. Real milk was offered for drinks in the room.
Lynton is such a beautiful place and everyone seems so relaxed and friendly. The way of life there is what life is all about, enjoying and appreciating what youhave.Truely wonderful part part of Devon and will come again and again.
well priced room with a four poster bed, comfortable and clean. In a lovely town, The staff were good and pretty friendly, generally enjoyed the stay, and the Hotel certainly had character.
Enjoyed friendly staff and quirky nature of the building. Food good also
and they made a special effort to meet dietary needs (gluten & dairy
free) with home made gluten free bread.
Excellrent value for money
Very friendly welcoming staff

Lynton is a very pretty village with great
shopping and handy to Lynmouth beach
and river.
Food was excellent, plentiful & hot. Staff very friendly & helpful.Excellent full-English breakfast which was a bonus as only continental was advertised.
Staff were very friendly. It was a nice, clean comfortable place. We all enjoyed our stay and our meal there. The breakfast provided was very good as well.
Location - 'british small switzerland' - indeed one of the best
places in uk to spend 3-4 days if one enjoys
mountain/hill/seaside/walking.
Incredibly friendly owners/staff, very comfy beds, nice bedding, a huge bargain. Ideally located in a lovely small town.
Friendly owners, comfortable room and a good breakfast. Also ate dinner here and thought it was a good hearty pub meal.
Location, excellent food, comfortable bed, great room size, helpful staff, parking just by the door, bar down stairs.
Location was excellent, tucked away but still central. Food was really good, really recommend the cooked breakfast!.
lovely staff, lovely room, but I think it was still being done up as bathroom a bit run down, fantastic breakfast,.
It was all fairly good, clean and the staff were friendly. Good location. The evening meal was really lovely.
Friendly atmosphere- good breakfast - friendly staff - room very clean and comfortable with brilliant en-suite.
Pleasant friendly welcome, good room, close to centre and buses. Unpretentious bar with food in the evening.
The welcome, the Bar and the pub food. Location, flexibility of the staff who were very nice to the kids.
Great location for coastal walks and access to Lynmouth. Pub offered standard pub grub which was fine.
Friendy helpful staff.
Big breakfast but a bit too big felt guilty having to waste so much.
We liked the location, the hotel itself, and the friendliness of the villagers in general.

Very nice hotel and town.
As a budget hotel there was nothing to complain about.
Evening meal was served in the bar area and not in the dining room (as used for breakfast). OK in the low season but.....
No one around when we checked out.The breakfast sausages were the kind you would normally avoid.
There wasnt enough staff around at times and although they just started doing full english breakfasts,it was only continental on our last morning which was a monday. That was disapointing, apparently the chef was not available.A little confusing.
very noisy at night when the other people using the bar were leaving after a singer had been performing that evening in the bar.
Bathroom very much in need of refurbishment, not good at all.
Bar needs revamp but newish owners who are gradually improving things so not a big negative.
Just one part of the landing smelt just a bit - might need new carpet, but nothing major.
Parking was a bit tight too.
Could be a bit cleaner.. Bar is very picturesque, but some people could
prefer clean tables and less of beer / dog smell.
the bar was very noisy with lots of swearing from customers, while we were trying to eat an evening meal.
The hotel's just a bit tired now but still value for money.
steep stairs - travelled to the area for a family party with my 87 year old mother who found it difficult to get up and down the stairs.
No particular dislikes.
Rather dated bedrooms but being upgraded but this is reflected in the price. Perfectly comfortable Family Room . En suite down a step and round a corner which was fine provided no mobility problems.
Not one thing.
Nothing.
Bathroom tatty. Dog price for three nights £30.
half eaten biscuit behind the tv.
There was nothing to dislike.
No sink in bathroom and peeling wallpaper in an area only slight prob nothing major.
Could be WiFi available as well.
Little bit tired needs new carpets .but not bad.
Couldn't get wifi in room.
nothing.
Nothing.
Few vegetarian choices on menu and Wi-Fi only available in the bar. Only minor points though.
nothing!.
Rooms were average and in need of updating but were value for money.
Nothing.

could be slightly noisy.
Room was rather tatty, but understandably as owners have not long taken over.
car parking restricted.
