The staff were very helpful. We were told our rooms had lovely countryside views but neither of them did. When I asked reception they changed our room but couldn't change the family room as the other one was taken. The restaurant was very good and although we only had the continental breakfast the pastries and croissants were the best we've had! There were lovely walks from the hotel. The surroundings, countryside views and general demeanour of the site was excellent. The staff very friendly and the food both dinner and breakfast of high quality and good wide menu. Bedrooom doors opened to a small patio per room.
alla recensioner » Lovely quiet location reasonably priced evening meal which was well presented and tasted delicious. No Complaints - room was a pretty good size for a single and the bathroom was clean and modern. I loved the rural location & surrounding countryside. The hotel had a friendly & nice, somewhat old worldly charm about it. The food was very good & service excellent. Very comfortable hotel with quiet rooms and a large parking. The restaurant is up to the standard and offer very good quality at a reasonnalb price. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Seeing deer in the field in the early hours, and kites wheeling overhead late afternoon/early evening. The hotel is set in pleasant and peaceful surroundings. The Pub/Restaurant is excellent for food/drink and the service is of good quality. Rooms well appointed with fridge, hairdryer, fan and ironing facilities as well as toiletries and coffee making facilities. Food was good. Location for cricket. Two lovely meals in bar. Response to small problem was dealt with and we weren't made to feel uncomfortable. We particularly liked having a door to outside with view of garden & field. Our room had a fridge which was a huge bonus. Room was on the ground floor and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good car parking. Very handy for the M40, food was excellent, staff attentive and we enjoyed our one night stay. all in all an excellent hotel, friendly staff, comfortable and clean room, good facilities. Our window had a nice view but was covered by a net curtain. We weren't overlooked so it wasn't needed. No supporting facilities, like Spa, Pool etc; other than that fine. If anything my room was a little too hot as the bath towel radiator was on in the bathroom and I couldn't turn it down or off. However, as it was so quiet I opened the window and slept very well. Nothing detracted from our most enjoyable stay. Internet service is poor; this is clearly a location and BT-related issue, not really the hotel's fault. Nonetheless, it's frustrating when you arrive expecting to be able to send emails & cannot. The saving grace was the staff member who linked his personal mobile to my laptop several times, to achieve my objective. Nothing. In a group of four people we all ordered food at the same time but one of our meals came much later than the rest. However the positive side of this is that it was all cooked fresh and was delicious. The continental breakfast could have had some cheese or cooked meats to improve selection options. Continental breakfast with Luke warm water for tea. Room above bar with smokers and drinkers outside window chatting at 12.45! Ask not to be in room 12!. Room was extremely hot and inside of fridge was warm. I know it was a heatwave, but the rooms were uncomfortably hot, 'though I was offered a choice. breakfast could be better. unfortunatley there was a wedding party so the hotel was full. Our room was on the ground floor & right next to the garden where people were sitting right outside our window so getting to sleep was not easy although the party were considerate & kept the noise down as bet as they could. Service was a little haphazard. Eg no bowls at breakfast. Slow to clear away plates. Decided to have full English breakfast at extra cost but still had to pay for the continental breakfast on original booking. Have already shared some comments on the breakfast choices. Just wanted to point out that this lovely pub is set out in the middle of the countryside so while it is nice and quiet you do need transport to get a paper etc. Breakfast was appalling!! 3 tiny croissants between two people and a small selection of jams do NOT make a Continental breakfast for which we had paid in the room price. They have got this element badly wrong, and seem to know it but persist in offering this dreadful breakfast. On this basis alone I would not return. Room 10 is described as a double but the bed is jammed against a wall, otherwise it would not fit in the room!. We were promised "magnificent views of the countryside" from our room. We had a view of a gravelled area with garden tables, and a high wooden fence beyond. Our room hadn't been properly cleaned - there was soap from a previous occupant in the shower and the bedroom hadn't been hoovered. Also, the sheets on the bed didn't fit. Our room had no window, only a skylight - hardly the "magnificent countryside views" as stated on the room description!!. The room was too small. The sound attenuation between rooms was very poor and resulted in a disturbed night's sleep. Breakfast was a little confused - staff didn't seem to be ready for the 7am start advertised and the service was very slow,. Food was tasty, but over-priced for the portions. Staff had no personality and very poor selection of Continental Breakfast, and no cream tea as advertised, which had to be pre-ordered, but did not mention this on website!!!!! Or on the menu. The bed was exceptionally bad. The duvet did not stretch from side to side when laid flat on the bed. We booked two nights and stayed one. The room was cramped and very noisy from corridor and connecting doors. ROOM 1 was next to reception. Design of room was best suited to single occupancy not double. There were other minor niggles. Overhaul we did not enjoy our stay. Very unprofessional staff nobody seem to know what their roles were. Poor communications, perhaps it was the English barrier. Very small cramped rooms. Free wifi that didn't reach our room. What appeaered to be blood stains on the curtains, bad fittings and a very hard bed. Only one cup in room no shampoo but lots of hand cream. The room was uncomfortably hot throughout all of our stay. Breakfast included with stay but told upon arriving in the dinning room only continental breakfast was included and if we wanted a full english we would have to pay £9 each on top of the £70 we paid for the room. Very tatty. Room cramped and overpriced. Window did not close. Bed rock hard. Staff rude and incompetent. Food cold and over priced. All in all this is not what it appears to be on the web site.
