Cherry Garth is a charming guest house at the heart of the English Lake District. Offering a large car park and en suite rooms with LCD TVs, it is less than 5 minutes’ walk from both the centre of Ambleside, and Lake Windermere. All rooms feature DVD players and facilities for making tea and coffee. Each room is individually designed to retain its original features such as open beams and Lakeland stone walls. The landscaped gardens feature seating areas, a pond and a wide variety of mature flowers and bushes. Windermere Railway Station is 10 minutes away.

the hotel information booklet was excellent giving far more information than many hotels in large chains.All the staff were very pleasant and obliging-nothing was too much trouble. The proximity to the town and shops were super. The car park was on site and the staff were pleasant and always available if needed but did not pressure us in any way.The staff were very friendly and very accomodating - tea and coffee facilities in a room make all the difference - an excellent weekend.

Cherry Garth is a very welcoming hotel, it is well presented very cleenand the staff are very helpfull.the friendy noss of the staff make you fill at home and the best breackfast l ever had. Flexinility of staff - such as letting us have breakfast early. we liked everything will recomend to freinds. The size of rooms were very good. I had booked the family room thinking we needed extra space, but the normal twin and double rooms were more than adequate. Our purpose of the stay was a wedding - the hotel allowed early arrival and late breakfast to accomodate our needs. They also give the freedom to come in as late as needed without needing to disturb anyone. Excellent hotel.Nice location near the Lake District village of Ambleside. Walking distance to town. Obvious effort to make the grounds attractive. Breakfast was adequate and good--made to order hot foods. Quiet even though we were there on a holiday weekend. Lovely and cosy. Nice and clean. Excellent friendly service. Fantastic breakfast. They provided a key for late entry into the hotel. We thought that the breakfast time could have been extended until 10.00am but otherwise the breakfast was brilliant with such a wide variety and as much as you could possibly eat.more seat room for if it a rainy day. The steps leading to the hotel are pretty and give a great view. However, they are a little dangerous and hard to see late at night. Some night lights eg garden lights might help to alleviate this problem. If a customer was to fall, the hotel might end up with an insurance claim.Noisy toilet flush. The stairs could be a problem for older people.Could be doing with a "spruce up " - just a wee bit on the expensive side for what you get but none the less ok for short stays. "Toaster could be doing with being turned down a bit " !!. should say b and b as not a hotel. Very run down, needs money ploughing back into the upkeep of both inside and outside. Four poster bed very ricketey, very disappointing, good location.Breakfast times could be better, complimentaries in room for the price of it could be better. Bathroom needed attention - toilet very noisy after flushing.It is not a 4 star hotel as I understand a 4 star hotel. For example, how many 4 star hotels have a combined dining room and lounge - if you could call two settes in the corner of the room a 'lounge'? I also felt that our room (twin on top floor with very slanted ceiling - I am 6' 3"!) was not up to our expected standard nor were the shower facilities as good as other 4 star 'hotels' stayed in. the hotel room was very small, the bed very uncomfortable. beakfast was served 8am to9am which seemed very early for a weekend break. it was cold in the room and we asked for this to be improved but it wasn't. the water was too cold for a bath i will not go again and was disappointed by my stay. It was in need of redecoration and was poor value for money.
