The cruise boats on Lake Windermere are 10 minutes’ walk away, whilst scenic Rydal Water is a 2 mile-drive. Windermere town is 5 miles away, accessible by buses that stop 2 minutes walk from the Lodge.

Ferndale Lodge had everything we needed for a good price. We stayed in their 'small double' room and it is definitely small! But it had a compact ensuite bath and wonderful views. We weren't missing anything. Breakfasts were tasty and generous - a good selection of yogurts, fruit, cereals and full English breakfast fare. Parking, though challenging to negotiate, was included, which was wonderful savings. The staff were friendly and attentive and the accommodation was all around very comfortable. alla recensioner »

Very clean comfortable room and bed, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. We would recommend this BnB to anyone visiting the Windermere Lake. Just a short stroll into the town of Ambleside and 1 mile to the Lake.
Lady who served breakfast was cheerful, helpful and could not do enough for you eg extra tea :) The breakfast was wonderful and I liked the fresh fruit that was available each day. The room was big, not your usual box and the TV was a flat screened one with digital channels.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and informative. The breakfast set you up for the day. The rooms were good, en-suite, tea making facilities etc. The B&B was well situated in the middle of Ambleside and perfectly situated for touring the Lakes.
super nice cute small room! My girlfriend and I love it! Very very friendly staff welcomed us. Nice breakfast! Ideal location, 5mins walk to the Ambleside bus stop; 1hour walk to the mountain behind which gave us a surprise top view of the lake.
The full breakfasts were excellent on both days. Not greasy and well presented.

The weather was good but if it had been raining it would have been a trek to walk around the back of the house to gain access to the front door for breakfast - our room was in the back garden. The ledges on the doors, skirting boards, etc could have done with a clean.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike.
Tight parking spaces but to be fair, I read reviews beforehand and knew about them and they were free, saving money on parking at some of the other hotels.
