  From the moment we arrived at Fukuzumiro, we experienced Japanese culture, charm, politeness, hospitality & warmth. The building was a traditional wooden ryokan, which was actually far larger inside than it at first appeared. Our room was truly authentic, traditional Japanese ryokan style & it overlooked the river; we could have been t - We found about Fukuzumiro in Lonely Planet and decided to give it a try in order to escape from the more crowded cities in our 2 weeks visit to Japan. We stayed in Fukuzumiro two nights in a weekend last may and, simple put, the best experience of our trip.   Booked the tatami style room with breakfast & dinner. Great food (almost too much :P - check-in hungry!), extremely friendly service from arrival to departure. It was a little expensive but for the experience & a one-time splurge, it's well worth the money. Stunning traditional Japanese meal served in the room. Great location. Shuttle bus.
