Matala has a wonderfull beach with clear water in a bay far from large tourist groups. It is a small village. Nikos Hotel is a small family hotel with private sitting groups with nice shadow outside at least second floor rooms. The hotel is close to the beach without any steep slopes or long steps. -

The hotel is on the main street of Matala but is relatively quiet as it is situated as you come into the village. Everything is to hand. Lovely swimming pool and outside cafe. Breakfast is adequate and staff keep dishes topped up. Shower is a trip down memory lane! -

We had a quiet room and access to a very good pool. Simple furnishings and clean. Excellent stop-over for Phaestos and Agia Triada; however we would not have chosen to stay here for a long time as the town itself was busy and the beach tiny. However, it was worth a visit to see the famous caves
