  The room was large, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The muffins, fruit, juice and coffee in the morning were delicious. The pool and hot tub was relaxing and enjoyable.   Enjoyed the facility itself, but the staff made our stay more pleasurable. The location was within walking distance to almost all of Newport. I will go again. - I love that the hotel is unique and desn't feel like any chain hotel. I also love the history of the hotel and that it has been open since 1929.

This is like an icon of the city and one of those old-school American hotels. The location itself is unbeatable and it looks over the 'central park' of Providence; Kennedy Plaza. The front desk upgraded me to a larger room with morning sun. The bed was very comfortable, firm with a mountain of soft pillows. Good, fast (and complimentary) wireless. Fitness room was empty at 5:30 a.m. easily accessible and with towels and bottled water.

Very happy they have shuttles taking you onto Thames St. Ordered fried calamari and it was very, very good! We are a middle aged couple who just decided to take off midweek for a quick trip to the cape/Newport etc. Staff was so friendly, helpful and courteous.
