The hostess, Kim was very friendly and accommodating. The place was just a few minutes walk to the heart of town and the cliff walk. It wasn't fancy but it was clean and comfortable. -

The rooms are very spacious beautifully appointed and fully equipped with refrigerator, safe, toiletries, yummy robes, hairdryer, iron and board complimentary water and so much more. Darlene was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and offered some great ideas for what to do, where to shop, where to eat, and where the locals go for fun. The Lodge offered discounted tickets to the Mansions and passes to the art museum. The breakfasts were fantastic, and it was nice to chat with the other guests during breakfast to hear what they were doing during their stay. I would highly recommend staying at the Ivy Lodge.

were so pleased with the Inn Keeper Cindy. She went above and beyond to
make sure we felt welcome, and we were comfortable. Her breakfast was
fantastic but nothing topped her chocolate chip cookies! She even gave

The property was well maintained and the room was beautiful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. For early risers or late night arrivals there was either a continental breakfast or fresh cookies and beverages.
The full breakfast at 9am was a pleasant experience that started our day of exploring with a full belly. The room was very romantic and spacious. I will stay here again and their off season rates are very reasonable while still including the amenities.

Service was excellent, friendly and attentive front desk and concierge--available at all hours. The front desk upgraded me to a larger room with morning sun. The bed was very comfortable, firm with a mountain of soft pillows.
Good, fast (and complimentary) wireless.
Fitness room was empty at 5:30 a.m. easily accessible and with towels and bottled water.

The hotel is right in the center of everything there is to do. You can
walk everywhere except to the mansions and then the Visitors Center is
only a block away and you can get a bus to take you to the mansions. Our
car never left the parking lot. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is

Location was excellent. It was near the waterfront as well as shopping and restaurants. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They gave excellent directions to nearby sights. Parking, although extra, was conveniently located across the street; just a few steps from the inn. Breakfast, which was included, was "just right" and was located in a homey and warm living room like location.

Our hostess was very informative about Newport's history and it's surrounding area . She made us very welcome . She explained that the hot entree at breakfast was just one choice which changed daily but was happy to make us something else if we didn't like it .

This Inn was a jewel in our east coast journey. It was also the most
expensive night for us, but in Newport, you have to expect a higher
price. We were happy that we could park the car in their lot, and walked
where we wanted to until we checked out the next day. We did the Cliff
walk early in the morning, the best time in the heat of the summer. This
Inn is truly a treasure!

I love that the hotel is unique and desn't feel like any chain hotel. I also love the history of the hotel and that it has been open since 1929.

The Marshall Slocum Inn, was beautiful. It's a quaint, quite piece
of relaxion. We were on our short Honeymoon, myself and my husband. We
checked in and it was already very friendly. The hostess, greeted us
with a hand shake and her name. For some reason, we were upgraded to
bigger room. She walked us in and from there... It was sheer heaven.

Everything about our stay was wonderful! My husband and I spent five nights at the Marshal Slocum Inn and were impressed with the attention to detail -- from the elegantly appointed breakfast to the lovely rooms to the cotton bathrobes. Mark is a wonderful host who has created a relaxing homey atmosphere in a historic area of Rhode Island. The location of the Inn is perfect for seeing all of the sites.
