  The Crown is in an excellent position in this lovely little city: right on the market square (some noise in the early mornings twice a week but the hotel provides ear plugs and the farmers' market is excellent) opposite the cathedral and bishop's palace. You can walk straight out onto the cobbled streets of the high street or walk around the peace... hva folk sier » ful gardens of the bishop's palace. The Crown is very old, so floors are a bit uneven but this just adds to the character. The bedroom decor is lookin - I've stayed in a couple of chain hotels recently for business which were as expensive, or much more expensive than the Crown, and though the rooms were high end, everything else was pretty awful. The Crown is a complete ray of sunshine by comparison - really delicious food (and phenomenally good value if you eat an evening meal between 6 - 7pm - only 13 quid for three courses of fabulous home cooked restaurant grade food).
