  I can't speak highly enough of Karen's Welcome & friendly helpfulness. I loved the style of the whole house. Our room was so comfortable with lovely touches such as fresh flowers, gorgeous homemade biscuits, cosy dressing gowns...little things I would expect of a 5 star hotel but delighted to find in this cute guesthouse....Highly Recommend &a... hva folk sier » mp; we'll definitely be back - A warm & friendly welcome.   We have stayed before and the standards have varied but we were very comfortable. Warn against over zealous staff. We were challenged for "running" on the first morning. - room decor was lovely with a clear view over the cathedral.The food was of very good quality and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and helpful

  The Crown is in an excellent position in this lovely little city: right on the market square (some noise in the early mornings twice a week but the hotel provides ear plugs and the farmers' market is excellent) opposite the cathedral and bishop's palace. You can walk straight out onto the cobbled streets of the high street or walk around the peace... hva folk sier » ful gardens of the bishop's palace. The Crown is very old, so floors are a bit uneven but this just adds to the character. The bedroom decor is lookin - I've stayed in a couple of chain hotels recently for business which were as expensive, or much more expensive than the Crown, and though the rooms were high end, everything else was pretty awful. The Crown is a complete ray of sunshine by comparison - really delicious food (and phenomenally good value if you eat an evening meal between 6 - 7pm - only 13 quid for three courses of fabulous home cooked restaurant grade food).   I liked the newness-feeling and elegance of Room 6. The breakfast was exceptionally good - with plenty of variey and all food being of a high quality, cooked and presented well. The coffee was excellent.
