The hotel Monopol Lucerne, directly at the train station of Lucerne, in the center of the city, next to the sea side, the old town and the famous Chapelbridge. The hotel building is very nice. We had a very big and beautiful bed-room, a new bath-room with double sink. The staff at the reception and in the service were very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast buffet was very big with a lot of different foods. We can really recommand the hotel Monopol Lucerne to everybody. Go and enjoy it...

Right next door to the train station - perfect location and yetsurprisingly quiet for the proximity to the trains.Rooms facing the front of the hotel do get street noise, but the view was worth the trade off.very friendly staffs in reciption and very helpful people in the hotel. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.room, service, staff, facility. the view from the hotel. The room was a nice size. It was very clean and comfortable with a large bathroom. The buffet breakfast was pretty good for a western European hotel. The location next to the train station was perfect!. It's really convenience as it is just next to the train station. It is also good value for money. Staff are nice and helpful. Service is excellent.Located outside railway station; room cleaned well each day; good breakfasts; excellent staff.Excellent staff. For the younger gereration the hotel has a really cool bar .breakfast. Our room overlooked the station entrance and a busy road junction so was very noisy. Room did not have airconditioning and was a bit stuffy so we had to open the window which made noise situation worse.Throughout the night (Saturday) there were people shouting and talking loudly at /near the train station disrupting our rest.I found that noise travelled a bit from other rooms but as I carry a set of earplugs everywhere I go, once inserted my sleep was not disturbed.The Breakfast offering and service was very poor. No Air Conditioning and with the windows open, it was very noisy all night long.small lift. A bit outdated. Bathroom should have been cleaner. Rooms were very warm. Quite a bit of noise from street and tour groups in hotel.This hotel room was not a 4 stars standar, I would give it 3 starts max!. The starbucks in the entrance. The noice during the night. Breakfast to simple for hotel catergory.1. no airconditioning. 2. although being a 4-star hotel, i had to call the desk to have bathroom accessories like toothbrush etc supplied. 3. the room layout (room 427) is awkward. especially the position of the big mirror.A sense of fear was created by the receptionist indicating the many rules, which if not followed we could be fined. the bathroom was not in a very good condition.Over priced.Except in the 6th floor, rooms need to be renovated. Especiallybathrooms.Rooms very small - in need of refurbishment. Very noisy! Also confirmation e-mail said all taxes were included, but letsbookhotel.com confirmation said they weren't. Caused some confusion and we all had to pay an extra 20 CH or so. This was not the hotel's fault.The room price was more expensive than in Hilton in the US, where I stayed week earlier. The room was small, outside view was inexistent, antenna of the TV didn't work and, worst of all, the temperature was high and there was no air-conditioning. I was expecting a 4-star-hotel quality. The room wouldn't have been bearable for half the price.
