  the staff were very friendly and ALWAYS said aloha every time they passed. The pool and gym were wonderful and we used them every day. I liked having the Kings and Queens market close by as we had a choice of eating establishments. the beach was protected and great for water sports. Down the beach was the Lava Lava Bar - we ate their quite a few... wat mensen zeggen » times and had drinks at sunset. Thanks to John and NIck there for a wonderful part of our stay. - The beach was very nice. Our room would have been perfect if we'd had a full ocean view instead of a partial because of a tree. The gym is nice and clean. The concierge was helpful but be warned, it is run by Expedia so no Kama'aina rates. The nearby markets were convenient and a good option if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Several good restaurants as well as a food court are available.

  It's an older resort but that is not a problem at all. Fabulous resort facilities, very clean and comfortable room (partial ocean view) with great service. You can't swim in the ocean directly from the hotel but it is such a dramatic location as the resort is positioned directly on lava rock. Views of the ocean are stunning. A hire car is a good idea. - Beautiful location, spent the most of my time at the resort because it was so beautiful and relaxing. Amazing pool to sit back with a Mai Tai and watch the sunset. Watched the manta rays feeding and ate delicious 'spider shrimp' at Rays on the Bay. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again myself

  The Inn was surprisingly exciting, different, homely and very memorable. We felt we were really in Hawaii, not just another hotel or resort. Irene was very interesting, warm and friendly. She was very generous with her time, information about the area and booked a lava walk tour for us. Insight into her ukulele playing and other interests gave us appreciation of everyday life - A very friendly B&B in Pahoa, the innkeeper, Irene, was super friendly and helpful. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week- long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree). It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation and make it bettter. Lenny is very nice, welcoming and helpful. Extremely quiet and relaxing environment. Everything was perfect and we highly recommend this place. The place was super clean, cozy, designed with the best taste and equipped with all one needed. It’s located in a beautiful quiet garden and close to the volcano park. We stayed for one night only, but sincerely hope to return for a longer stay. The owner is a very nice person who pays attention to the small details.

  Loved the Rain Forest outside our 3 glass sided walls and the privace, can hardly see another cabin. Staff placed nice selection of snacks, teas, etc in room. Also, short 10-15 min drive to Volcano. Good referral to Warren Costa Native Guide Hawaii which we used for private tour of volcano park. - We were surrounded by nature outside, and by... wat mensen zeggen » luxury inside. The hotel was perfectly clean and well equipped. It was quiet and private. The bed was super comfortable. There were good restaurants just down the road.

  This is a perfect domestic house! Maureen and Dean are kindness and wonderful people. Every day's handmade breakfast has been fresh and tasty. There is the magic welcoming atmosphere inside the house and on the Ireland. Maureen's house is very beautiful with the charming rooms and the garden around the house. Olga, Moscow - Maureen is a splendid host, always give you tips of what you can do on the island and make you feel like you are at home, vey cozy place!!!. The room was good and the best of all is the comfortable bed. It's near to the airport but not close enough to hear the planes and you have a beach at 1 block that you can swim with turtles. Absolutely recomend this B&B and if I go again to big island I definitely return here.
