Very close to the subway. Clean and airy room, size wasn't too bad
for japan. 5 min walk to the main shopping strip and maybe a 15-20 min
walk to Gion. Lots of restaurants nearby and 2 small supermarkets on the

have spa on top floor which is a bonus for after shopping, although its a bit small but it still good. A lot of people were saying about no wifi in the room but if you ask the staff at reception they will give you a modem for your room to use, free of charge! this was another bonus since i thought they only have wifi in the lobby. -

Extra friendly staff. Clean room. We requested a double if one became available as we were on honeymoon but only a twin was avail at time of booking. They upgraded us for free. Nice room. Great location for sightseeing. Only short walk to subway. Didnt use restaurant so not sure what it was like. -

although location is far from city, there is direct JR Bus from Kyoto station to the place. take about 40 mins though. fyi for other traveler as if take JR bus from Kyoto station, alight at Takahanacho stop then walk back about 100m then cross the other side of road. will find easily. staf

I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan
and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so
impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the
street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay
in ryokan. Love it.

Authentic Ryokan accommodation and an ideal base from which to explore beautiful Kyoto. We found the location peaceful and accessible and it was easy and safe. Me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights in Kyoto, we wanted to try traditional japanese style room. But when we arrived at Ikoi No Ie it occured to us that it was the best choice apart of that what I mentioned. A subway station a minute away, also very convenient to the main railway station, (15 min walk or 1 subway station away), in a true old fashioned Kyoto street. Not far to 7/11 & supermarket, we didn't eat out much as 'the right place' was a little more difficult to find (not Japanese speaking). Although the railway station would have sufficed if we had wanted more eating options.

Very nice and very clean hotel. Rooms are a bit small (like everywhere in japan) but comfortable and clean. Staff is very kind and speak english very well. Very good value for money. Breakfast is also good.
I can recommend this hotel.
The location is not so exciting, I though it was quite near to Gion but it's not. You have to take the subway to reach restaurants or night life areas.
