Breakfast was excellent, just what I liked, porridge and excellently cooked poached eggs. The room was large and when I said I was hoping to do some studying while I was there, a small table was provided in my room to work on. Improvements were also made to the Internet connection. I was able to park under cover most of the time and it felt asif was a friend of the family rather than a paying guest. TV reception was brilliant and the local pub served delicious meals. The town centre was near at. tutti gli commenti dei clienti »
The beautiful stone listed building was cut from a quarry (Quarr) and is entirely individual, not in the least a square building - nooks, crannies, walkways and the most beautiful garden. It so happens we stayed in May and the wisteria was in full bloom in the late spring we've had this year. Large room, fresh milk for tea-making, lovely biscuits! Don just the most welcoming of hosts with interesting chat - Gill the perfect breakfast cook. Yummy. Will definitely re-visit when next in the a.
House was old stone-built but beautifully decorated with heaps of
character. The room we had was large and very comfortable and quiet. The
king-size bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was extremely
good, obviously using local produce. The house is very situated and
central to a number of tourist attractions of every Genre' Would
stay there again.
Donald and Gill were extremely friendly, informative and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Lovely breakfast.
The cottage was very pleasant and once warmed through, (did have to keep warm clothes on) comfortable.
Very quiet place.
The Kings arms (Dusthole) pub, was a very friendly, pleasant place to eat, with fantastic food.
Warm friendly welcome & hospitality in a comfortable, historic building with a charming garden. The proximity to a character country pub(The Dusthole) which served good meals & was recommended by our Maplestone hosts made for a a memorable stay. Would definitely stay again.
Do not miss this place.Exquisite garden (with quiet chickens), lovely breakfast (well organised, timely and delicious), beautiful furnishings (and art work), welcoming pub a brief walk away, easy access to all local attractions, and friendly and professional hosts.
Great hosts in a beautiful setting! The garden was in full bloom and a lovely place to sit after a long day. Location great for visits to Bath and Wells. Also great to have kitchen facilities and sitting area as we were in the cottage.
Very comfortable and quirky accommodation run by a very friendly and capable couple. Our room was spacious and well equipped with comfortable beds. We enjoyed a beautifully cooked and presented breakfast in this delightful house.
Comfortable old house on quiet side of town - feels more like being in the country. Run by mature couple who had to leave what was Southern Rhodesia - it's loss is Shepton Mallet's gain! Nothing too much trouble for their guests.
The separate cottage felt special. The garden was incredible! The owners were charming, attentive and accommodating with our breakfast needs. Great location for our day trip to Glastonbury and to visit friends in Warminster.
The owners were a charming couple who went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. They gave us good advice on the surrounding attractions. We very much enjoyed the conversations we had with Donald and Gill.
It was soo great at the Maplestone Cottage!
The best Trip ever! Breakfast was excellent. The owners are very, very friendly.
Donald and Gill are the best!
Good location for visiting the many attractions in the area.
Jill and Donald are lovely, interesting and welcoming people. The room and the house are beautifully decorated, warm (it was miserable weather) and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
Good location for visiting the many attractions in the area. B and b was
exactly as advertised and we enjoyed being in the small cottage.
Friendly hosts, property was warm, clean and comfortable.
The owners could not do enough for you. GThe breakfasts were very good and
freshley cooked. They were most helpful with directions and suggestions of places to visit.
The friendly atmosphere and congenial owners. Very ENGLISH Cosy atmosphere and great breakfast. Jill Donald made our stay memorable and we would recommend highly.

knowledgeable about the area and generous with their attention. I would

The welcome and friendliness of the proprietor. The garden. The breakfast. The close proximity to a wonderful pub/restaurant called the Dust Bowl.

Location, hosts, comfy beds, quiet location.
Very friendly. Excellent breakfast.
Staff were friendly and helpfull.
Comfortable - nice stay.
A quaint little cottage but very difficult to find. Rooms upstairs and somewhat difficult to negotiate the narrow stairs. Noise factor from adjacent rooms.
Charming old farmhouse. Clean rooms and bedding and good organic breakfast and friendly staff!.
The bed was comfortable and breakfast was ok. The location was good.
Room was rather dark as the house was set into the wall of an old (but decorative) quarry. However the electric light was adequate and in no way did this detract from my stay, although I would have liked a bit more view!.
Stairway very narrow and steep, tricky when carting luggage, but nothing to be done about that, of course. Not for the elderly or infirm.
For me the Electric Shower left a lot to be desired! Whilst the
shower enclosure was large the flow was very poor. Then, I'm
fussy about showers.
Cottage was quite cold, even with 'all' heaters on. But it was very cold outside and it is an old building.! (Bed was very warm though!).
Hard to find.
Nothing.
Slightly difficult to find.
The boiler that supplies heat to the entire B&B was not turned on at night making mornings a bit chilly.
Shepton Mallet itself is quite run down and not what we had hoped for.
That is not a reflection on the b and b, but our opinion of the town!.
Accessibility to one of the rooms somewhat difficult for an older person.
It is a shame that the village itself is not as lovely as those
surrounding it.
slight difficulty in climbing up to the upstairs bedroom.
There was nothing to dislike we were happy with all aspects of the accommodation.
Maplestone was all good.
A bit awkward to reach. Steep stairs.
Nothing.
We stayed in the room out side of the cottage with the very precarious stairs, and found it very daunting going up and down them when wet and dark. Location was very disappointing, the town is very run down and we found it very hard to find a good pleace to eat in the evening. So the closest place is Wells which means one cannot have a drink or relax as you have to drive. But I would think it would be ideal for backpackers.
The room a bit warmer.

the weather.
Parking could be a little better, and the steps to our room would not be suitable for the elderly (fine for us though).
Not a thing.
A little hard to find -- especially because the street they are near has no street sign.

Noise from next door - couple were very early risers and not very quiet!.
no problems during this stay.
late check in time.
Make sure you arrive before dark to find this location!.
Cold. The heating wasn't on in the mornings and went off quite early at night. Lounge could have been more comfortably furnished and the TV was much too small. Had to wait a long time for tea and coffee at breakfast.
For this price I would expect better.
