Cosa dice la gente
The staff were all efficient and very friendly. Check in, bar service, the waitress at dinner and the handling of breakfast arrangements were all excellent. The room was large and nicely furnished and the bathroom was a good size. We really enjoyed the food - the steak at dinner was great and the food and wine were ggod value for money. Breakfast was really good too, plenty of choice and all of it tasty. tutti gli commenti dei clienti »
Staff were absolutely lovely. Adrian the owner even gave us a lift to the ashes cricket game that morning cause he was going that way... Such a lovely fellow :-)
The rooms were very clean and had lovely decor (basic but stylish). Food size also.
Location great- only short walk to train station and to Durham city :-).
Always look for a place where the locals go? Me too and this is it! Wonderful welcome, cosy guest room, great food at affordable prices. I loved eating in the pub by the fire. Will definitely be back, warm friendly atmosphere, well situated and the boss will fill up your coffee cup in the morning.
The location about 5 minutes walk to the city centre. Bus service out side of the hotel for anybody who wish's to use it.. A good menu, quality of the food excellent. Bar and restaurant very comfortable. Ideal for a romantic weekend. Staff very friendly and helpful what more can you ask for.
The owner and staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere welcoming and relaxed. Their Continental breakfast offered a really varied and ample choice. Our room was clean, tasteful and comfortable. We enjoyed our two evening meals. The location is ideal for visiting Durham.
Nice friendly welcome, food in the restaurant was lovely home cooked food and the menu changed daily, Conveniently close to the railway station and Durham city centre, Continental breakfast in the conservatory was lovely in the morning, would certainly return here in the future.
All the people at The Garden House Inn were just lovely. We felt very welcome and comfortable throughout our stay.
The decor is beautiful, the location is fantastic. We loved it and would definitely return. A great little place.
The staff were really friendly, the food was excellent. The location was good about 15 minute walk to the City Centre. The room was clean and good value for four of us. There is free car parking too.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was most relaxing. Some rooms in pubs can be noisy but we had no such trouble at The Garden Inn.
Food was good and staff friendly, room was a good size, tea and coffee making facilities in room but no bible lol. The resturant was spacious and service was very good and food fantastic.
It was a lovely hotel, very friendly, food was excellent. The room was very clean. The location was very handy for the city. Even when we got there early nothing was a bother.
Location superb for a visit to Durham. Not too noisy, despite being by the roads. Dinner in the pub excellent--the chef knows his gastro pub (sticky toffee pudding yum).
Quiet room despite near road.
Duvet/sheets.
Good breakfast for a continental style breakfast, including nice coffee
Assorted books to read in the breakfast room.
comfortable family room with 2 large double beds - spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, charming helpful staff and delicious food - perfect for us!.
Staff really helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. Evening meal on Saturday was excellent. Cooked to perfection and very tasty.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The bar food was excellent. We intended to go out to eat but couldn't tear ourselves away.
Easy walking distance to Durham and all its attractions. The public bar and dining facilities were very welcoming.
Staff, ambience & general feel was great. Lovely food. Tasty without being pretentious. Not cheap but worth it.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Easy access to Durham University, castle, and cathedral. Excellent food!.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is hard to beat. The food in the restaurant was excellent.
The staff were extremely helpful. My daughter is coeliac and was really well looked after at breakfast.
The atmosphere, the cleanliness and the staff. Lovely pub area with plenty of buzz. A lovely hotel!.

The staff and food/beer was excellent.
Friendly, good food, nice room.
the atmosphere.
Liked the decor and spacious room. Speed of checking in was good. Good parking and close to city centre. Lovely evening meal and plenty of choice at breakfast.
The staff were friendly, the pub/restaurant below was really nice, it was only a short walk into town.
A please pub in a reasonable location with friendly staff , decent beer and food.
Room was spacious and clean. Bed comfortable. Continental breakfast was OK.
|Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, good food, location for City centre.
Convenient location (within walking distance from the centre of Durham).
Food excellent - Warm Friendly traditional Pub atmosphere.
Nice breakfast and walking distance of city.
Bar area & conservatory for dining.
The only niggle was the light over the bathroom mirror not working.
- hot water problems (one night I had to sponge cause hot water kept going in/out with cold)
- bed very hard - not comfortable
- no hot breakfast option
- no working wifi in public areas even though advertised.
There was nothing to dislike.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable and trying to get the shower to the right temperature was almost impossible!.
The parking is limited and the on street parking commences at 8am and the traffic warden appeared soon after.
Our room faced onto a busy main road and did not have double glazing and as the inn is a short distance from the hospital was quite nosy at night. Also the bath mixer on the bath did not have a thermostat on it so when in the shower my wife burnt herself, would not cost much to upgrade the taps to a thermostat mixer.
There was nothing that we disliked.
Water very hot, no mixer tap and shower controls so weird we couldn't figure them out at night and had to ask the next day.
Fake fur cushions on pillows.
Mattress.
Dirty string from pull switch for shower.
Room decor.
Limited parking when I arrived, but later on there was a space.
Nothing.
Just disappointed that hot meals were not available on Sunday evenings after 6pm.
Can't actually think of anything I didn't like.
Nothing.
Paying the bill! A tad on the dear side but overall it was well worth it.
Would have liked a full breakfast rather than continental.
Difficult to locate from train station.
Lack of parking in car park.
3 slight niggles for room 6.
The shower was difficult to get to comfortable temp.
The TV would freeze every few seconds.
The bathroom lock can only be opened from outside the bathroom!.
Beer prices no cooked breakfast.
Wish we could have stayed longer.
Lack of replenishment of complimentary biscuits, water, shower gel for the second night.
steak was a little tough for the price but service was fine.
Shower in room didn't work at all!.
Nothing.
Clear info about time food Was served would have been useful. Like not after 6 on a Sunday!.
The bar staff in the evening were quite solemn. A smile would from them would have improved our dining experience.
Although the hallways and room weren't inadequate or dirty it did look like it needed some TLC and some new fixtures and fittings. The continental breakfast was ok, but for the price I would have preferred a cooked breakfast option.
Rooms fairly basic and not to a high standard , breakfast is continental but poor quality with all pastries processed shop bought , we stayed on a sunday night and found out the inn doesn't serve food on a sunday evening so had to get a taxi into town . We paid £85 for the room and could have stayed in a hotel in the city centre for the same money.
They need to do something about the shower controls. It's a simple mixer but getting the balance between scalding and freezing took a long time.
Shower.
Not a big issue for us, but the pub downstairs does play music and you can hear it in the room.
Room 3 - Noisy - old sash windows -mainroad - restless nights sleep
Bathroom - poor - outdated - bath with mixer off taps for shower -
scolded several times Continental breakfast - poor/limited a shame
rooms not on a par with food - disappointing considering was a special
occasion - complained but as yet manager never contacted me as requested
- would not stop here again- better value available in area......
Rooms were tired and in need of a make over.
Not having a cooked breakfast.
