On two cold February days we had a wonderful stay at the Grafton House Hotel, the location overlooking the cathedral is wonderful and yet is on a quiet cobbled street. Our room was luxurious and spacious, with the steam room shower reviving us after a day's sightseeing. Fabulous food served in a contemporary dining room. Warm and friendly, a real treat. Stylish surroundings without being made to feel uncomfortable. Relaxed dining room with a good choice.

Pleasant surroundings, well designed dining room, excellent breakfast. Bed was a little too soft and bouncy and caused me a potentially serious accident. I did not complain at the time and have no intention of doing so, but i have come across these beds in other hotels and thought them a potential hazard. No bath in the room. No biscuits available in the room!. Room was a bit cramped for the money charged for it. Loose tea bags inthe welcome tray is a bit off putting - most hotels supply wrapped teabags. Fresh milk in the fridge is a nice touch. Found the heating systemconfusing; would have found written instructions useful. I wasn't sureif the dial I was turning was actually going to do anything to the roomtemperature.expensive and poor choice of evening menu. Found that the room was bedside tables were dusty and that there was leak in the room form the room above.Just one niggly point: why, when two were sharing a room, did we only get one set of towels?. Although very comfortable, the accomodation (room and bathroom) were small for the price paid.Some real basics not right. Only one towel in both double rooms. No tea facilities; No toilet roll holder; Butter for one on a table for 4 etc etc. Overall impression was that style was being placed above practicalities. Insufficient attention has been paid to the details (e.g.dirty bathrobe left hanging in wardrobe) and the hotel generally was not of the standard I associate with a luxury hotel.Our room was stiflingly hot - small window which was open when we arrived did nothing to alleviate the heat.
