  This is the second time that we have had the pleasure of staying at the Chateau de l'Abbaye. The Renard family was as welcoming and gracious as ever; showing us to our room, pointing out the features of the room, offering to carry our suitcase. This time we stayed in the room called Marguerite, in the main house. Since we were last there, a private spa has - The superb level of service of the owners,the comfort and quality of the bedrooms and the air condoning during the heat wave conditions during of visit. The set menu evening dinners were by far the best we had on our three week visit to France Our original booking was two days, we extended to three then continued our journey.   Used the Martinet as an overnight stop on our cycle touring holiday. Bouin is a quiet village with an interesting church and the Martinet is the perfect place to relax. Run by a very pleasant couple you feel that without being intrusive, nothing would be too much trouble for them to help make your stay a very comfortable experience.   Its a haven of peace and tranquillity set in woodland yet within 100 metres or so of a splendid beach. The facilities are very smart and the food is exceptional with the freshest of fish and a wine list of well known wines as well as a very good selection from the Loire and Vendee.   The location is fantastic, but the hotel is very dated, however despite that we would stay again. The food is not bad and the staff are very helpfull. - We stayed in this hotel at either end of our holiday. The staff were very friendly and helpful although useful to have a member of the family that speaks French.
