  It is hard to imagine a more charming place to stay in the Loire than Les Douves. Once a grand chateau occupied the small island, with its 360 degree moat, on which the current “manor” style building sits. The island home is situated in the center of the town of Onzain, a perfect location from which to tour the surrounding area and grand chateaux... cosa dice la gente » . Family owned and operated, Les Douves has only one guest accommodation. A suite consisting of a large bedroom and sitting room, two other salons, a - A beautiful place owned by a really nice couple. We enjoyed the Gresse couple hospitality and the spacious and tastefully decorated suite. The place is ideal for families: the suite accommodates a family of five comfortably and the yard is full of fun. The Gresse kids are very friendly and were eager to show my kids all the animals: swans & ducks in the moat, chickens & rabbits in the yard, and then climbed with them to the tree house and picked apples right from the tree. A real treat
