We found all staff friendly, our room overlooked the river which made our stay tranquil. Nothing was too much for staff. The breakfast was 5 star - excellent, hot, hot, hot.   I can't say enough nice things about this place. I got a virus on my first day so spent more time than intended in the accommodation. Great facillities; lounge with books and games, kitchen with free tea, coffee & condiments as well as space to store own food. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely rooms. Kids loved the lounge room with the huge selection of games for them to play. Great to have the use of a very clean , fully equipped kitchen too.   This very old pub is in the centre of town, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. I was upgraded to the top room in the building because it was Sunday and the lounge was closed on that day, so if you are looking for an extra large room, that was it, as it had a large bedroom, double bed, entry hall and large separate lounge room. The pub has private free parking. - The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, complete with an enormous flat-screen tv. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant served delicious and interesting food. Gales is centrally located in the town of Llangollen, which is incredibly charming, with plenty of opportunities for hiking nearby. Great overall experience.

  The hotel was described in it's brochure as 'Luxury on the River Dee'...and it certainly was that! Our room was large, clean and had a balcony with fantastic views overlooking the river. I would definitely recommend booking one of the VIP rooms for the extra £20 or so.
