The room was lovely, large, clean, with well appointed furniture. The bedding felt luxurious. They took extra measures providing q-tips, and make up remover pads, and robes. Breakfast was included and had the basics, the fresh juice, coffee, tea was nice, the service was great, the staff was helpful. Merritt House is a lovely property. The price per night in comparison to the chain hotels is a real bargain. It was perfect for our girls weekend. Since the weather was chilly we were able to enjoy the fireplace in our room. The location is within in walking distance of all the shops and the warf.

We Used The Patio For Breakfast And Later In The Day To Sip Wine. Comfortable Rooms In A Cottage Like Decor. Will Definitely Be Back. Room was lovely - high ceilings, fireplace, plenty of space in the room for our gear (wetsuit, etc.) as well as the usual luggage. The more open bathroom arrangement - sink & counter outside the commode & showers - was really helpful, too. Wonderful stay! Comfy bed, clean room, great relaxing breakfast and location, location, location! Easy walking access to Fisherman's Wharf, museums, Cannery Row and lots of restaurant options. We'll definitely be back... We arrived verge early by bus, and were allowed to check in earlier. Booked 2 more nights and were upgraded to king room. Very nice breakfast. And great location in walking distance to most areas. Very sweet inn. We had terrific rooms complete with fireplace and a nice garden patio. Very clean plus very nice people. Very cute décor and very clean. Beautiful courtyard right outside our room. It was like a cute sea side cottage. Convenience of being centrally located to movie house, aquarium, restaurants, walking paths and historic sites. The location was excellent,used as a base for the moto GP at laguna,also close to restaurants and bars. The rooms are very cozy and decorated in a lovely manner with a cute bistro set on the paito. Nothing Went Wrong.If I want to be difficult, I will say that we Would have liked to have our ashTray outdoor cleaned every day. at the end of our stay it was really full and dirty. otherwise everything was impeccable and the stuff extremely helpful and friendly. Shortage of staff working during the breakfast bustle, which made the host lady rather anxious towards guests who came for breakfast. Fan in bathroom too noisy when on. Having to pay for parking. No pool, parking. Parking for hotel was cramped and tight even for small vehicles. TV channel choices are lacking, especially if you have children or plan to laze around the hotel for any length of time. No safe for valuables in the room. Bed could have been a little more comfortable. Fireplace was not gas operated so could not use it on very cold day and evening. Could hear people in next room. The room was a bit stuffy, a ceiling fan would have solved. There was a loud three year old in the room next door, not the hotel's fault. Parking charge on premises. Although good downtown location, signigicant walk yo Cannery Row, etc. bathroom fan didn't work but you could hear the fan in the adjoining room LOUDLY. Hard to open window. The morning breakfast service. They only had one woman working to take care of all the guest as well as check out the guest. Didn't feel welcoming. Price way too high ($169.00!) for what we got. Paying $19.00 for parking (when not being told in advance) was not appreciated. Facility very spartan and a bit runned down and generally not worth the money paid. Continential breakfast was terrible. Would it be too much to get a few donuts and a few more boxes of different cereals??. Rooms need updating. Receptionist on both days were not helpful in giving directions or reverting back to us regarding our complaints.Rude & not helpful.There was no hot water in the bathroom on both days. Luke warm water in a cold city.!! They gave some lame excuse as washing machine consuming some hot water, but we never got hot water. Breakfast was miserly. When we wanted to go early on 13th for Yosemite, the receptionist was not helpful for giving breakfast 5 minutes before 8 am. Facilities not updated. Small old TV. Bed very uncomfortable. Too much money for what it offers. Name it!! Our car got scratch because of no parking, yet they had the nerve to charge us for parking. The mattress was worn out and terrible. The curtains were shredded. The room stunk of must. I wouldn't wish this room on my worst enemy!!! Pictures very deceiving!!.
