Also it was great to be in an area less touristic than the famous sultanamet and we discovered a lot by just wandering around the beyoglu area.   We have stayed at Faik Pasha for two nights. This hotel is an excellent option in İstanbul. We chose this hotel due to the Taksim square protests. It is very close to İstiklal Street but it is located in very secure region of Taksim. The room was very well appointed, real boutique hotel style. We love the location (close to most main attractions like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, endless shopping streets of Istiklal Ave), the apartment-like atmosphere with loft bed and kitchen, cleanliness-WOW. Super clean place. Easy access to food! Lastly, friendly and accomodating staff! - The hotel staff were the ones that really made our stay memorable. The were caring, funny and tried to help us with all our needs, from getting a change of room due to a faulty air-conditioning unit, to recommending the best kebab shop in the area. They were always around for a friendly chat and made us feel a home.
