The staff did go above what they tell they'd offer: i.e. checking me in outside of their opening hours because they were there "anyway" and I could leave my luggage with them because the room wasn't ready (I was before check-in time) and because I would return so late, they brought it up to my room. I definitely did not expect this from a "budget hotel"!

If you just want somewhere simple to sleep for the night this is perfect and close to the city centre - you also get a card to use Basel's public transport system for free so you can travel around as much as you like without it costing more.
