Staff were friendly and we tried to tip the valet, but she refused our money and later we were advised by Japanese friends that this is customary as hotel already charges tax. It was very honest of her. Also, family room was spacious and fantastic. -

Were pleasantly surprised when greeted by ladies in pink kimonos
We only had one afternoon to spend from 2.00 pm onwards so it was great that it was so close to the Nijo Castle, then we walked down Nishiki Market near Shijo Dori. There is a nice little ramen restaurant in the corner of the street opposite Nijo Castle which we liked as they even have English menu.

We were very surprised by this hotel! The location is great, just a 5 minute walk from Kyoto train station. From there you have access to the trains, busses and subway. I liked everything about Hotel Almont. The hotel was easy to find as
long as you found the east side of the Kyoto train station. The hotel
was within close walking distance approximately 8 minutes while pulling
my luggage behind me. The hotel was extremely nice because of being
brand new. The rooms were modern and clean. Also, I really enjoyed using

Solid value for the money, particularly for a solo or business traveler. Not a lot of frills when it comes to the rooms and restaurant, but the public bath and relaxation room, plus the professionalism of the staff, make it well worth it.
It is a bit of a walk from neighborhoods that have a lot of eating and shopping options, but in exchange, it is quite while remaining central. Bicycle rental is convenient.

Beautiful rooms with nice amenities in a great location that is perfect for dining and shopping. Far better environment than a big hotel. You step outside and are right in a great neighborhood that allows you to feel like a local. -
