Waterloo is an up & coming area of Sydney. That being said, on our 1st taxi ride from downtown area, we were a bit nervous about the area. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that the neighborhood was an area which was in the process of being upgraded and our immediate area was all done and people living all around the hotel area. Good location. We were not using the children's hospital or the uni which were directly across the road, however the location was fantastic for good cafés and restaurants! Enjoyed my stay here. It was very cost effective and easy to get around. Bus stop outside and the beach very close. Had all the amenities I needed and a really lovely cafe next door, great food.
