The staff and guests just seemed so much more pleasant and approachable than other resorts we visited in the area. The location, beach and quiet were ideal for us. We visited the Four Seasons, Andaz and Grand Wailea and just felt more "at home" at the Makena. Less pretentious, less "busy", more relaxing, quieter. Beautiful beach in front of the hotel (very good for swimming and snorkeling). Friendly staff. Good size rooms, very comfortable. Shuttle service was quite convenient to move around Makena and Wailea. Free bikes (for 3 hrs). Friendly consierge service which helped coordinating the tours or activities.

A stand-alone resort with everything available on site including the beach! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food. The sea view if you succeed to get it by paying more. The calm at the end of the tourist road. The small secluded beach. A welcome change from the zoo of other big names hotels. This hotel is beautiful! The grounds are very large and lush. The pool is smaller but very nice. The staff where wonderful, friendly and helpful!. We stayed here on our honeymoon and the view of the smoke detector was nice. The staff were helpful, courteous, friendly. Nice people, no question at all. No bar until late (not asking for 3 am, but at least 12 am). Having such a beautiful beach in front is hard to understand why there is no restaurant or bar where you can have dinner enjoying the sea breeze and sunset (the "dinner" restaurant has only some view to the beach, no terrace). The hotel was "dead" at 10 pm. For the price paid, some things should be included like snorkel or kayak. Overpriced boring breakfast. Most rooms sold with a sea view actually overlook a construction zone. Then the garden rooms at high floor are a better choice. The lack of newer in room features such as an Ipod compatable radio. Hard to come up with anything. Only valet parking. Golf course was closed. The last hotel on the resort, somewhat isolated and requires transportation. Will be excellent venue when the golf course re-opens. Received a wake up call that wasn't ordered at 6am. Ruined my day as I was sick and sleep deprived. Contacted the day manager who left a message that they made a mistake. Didn't offer any compensation (apologies don't count for much when you pay $300 a night for a good nights sleep). The wifi with Apple products doesn't always work in the room. But it does work at other places in the resort and the staff was very helpful in getting my wifi working. having to leave Makena. Not a luxury hotel by absolutely any modern measure. But... Astronomical prices. The room was dirty (the carpet was irreparably disgusting, room not dusted before or during our visit), the equipment was broken (toilet didn't flush right, shower drain clogged, internet not working), we wasted half a day trying to get them to fix things in the room. Bathroom layout was bad. At first we didn't think we had a toilet because the commode room was behind the bathroom door. Had to leave the lights on at night so we knew where it was.

At first traffic signal outside of Airport, veer LEFT at this signal, and follow Dairy Road (Costco is on your left).

Continue on Dairy Road to the 6th traffic signal; get in LEFT TURN LANE (there are 2).

Turn LEFT onto Pu'unene Avenue (Hwy 350), following the sign to "Kihei, Wailea, & Makena."

Continue on Hwy 350, which connects to Hwy 311 (Mokulele Highway), for approximately seven miles.

Turn LEFT onto Hwy 31 (Pi'ilani Highway), the second traffic light.

Continue on Hwy 31 approximately seven miles through 6 traffic signals until this stretch of road ends and you must turn RIGHT.

Continue down the hill (in the left lane of traffic) where road ends at a stop light, with the Shops at Wailea in front of you.

Turn LEFT onto Wailea Alanui at traffic signal.

Continue on Wailea Alanui through Wailea into Makena, approximately 3miles.

You will find Maui Prince Hotel on the right-side.
