Thorncroft Inn is a gracious, cozy, and quiet getaway inn. It's location in wooded acreage is in sidewalk-walking distance to shops, restaurants and docks of Vineyard Haven. We enjoyed a detailed written tour guide of the island composed and provided by the innkeeper, Karl. Loved "The Black Dog Tavern" for good food on the harbor. Lovely (2) day stay. all reviews » We absolutely enjoyed our 3 nights stay at Thorncroft Inn. It was quite a peaceful and relaxing experience. I am personally very picky about hotels /inns to the point I usually bring sheets and towels. To my surprise, I felt so comfortable with the feeling of cleanliness that I did not have to use them. The service was exceptional. Kudos to Lynn and Carl!. Karl was an excellent host and provided superb advice for the island, be it as a guide or as a food connoisseur. Open fire was superb and so easy to light. It's a single match guarantee! The breakfast was nothing short of tremendous and the attention to detail is a joy to behold. This place will provide anybody with a truly memorable experience. The staff were friendly & informative about the area. It is a beautiful older residence in tranquil surroundings. The walk to town takes in everything from grand residences over looking the ocean to tiny cabins. The breakfasts were huge! The fire place was great & worked & looked a treat!. Great getaway located about a mile from Vineyard Haven so close enough to walk down but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Karl and Lynn are great hosts and you will not find a better breakfast. Its to die for!. The room had everything you could want.The Inn was gorgeous and the owners were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious, abundant and beautifully presented. The owners cooked and served breakfast in a beautiful dining room, meals were delicious. The location was excellent. The room was comfortable and the fireplace in the room was very romantic. The breakfast was very good. They provided really good travel advice - we saw most of the island for $7. Excellent breakfast. Couldn't have been more friendly. Innkeepers were like family and treated us like family. The breakfasts are outstanding. Lovely ambiance; air conditioned! Well-managed;. loved the atmosphere and delicious breakfast. Excellent breakfasts. Very friendly hosts. Food. The full waffle breakfast was a lot to eat, even for big appetites. I recommend serving half waffles in the same presentation. Delicious!. Not applicable. Its a little slow this time of year so if you want shopping you maybe disappointed. Otherwise it was a great stay. I have a bad back and the bed was just a bit too firm for me. But I got more used to it each night. Too short of a stay. Rather formal, so a little uncomfortable. Nothing.
