We had a large comfortable room near the swimming pool. The huge bed was very comfortable and we slept well. A fridge, microwave and coffee maker were useful. The motel was clean and the young staff friendly and hard working. The breakfast which we went to reception to collect each morning was simple but got us going for the day. It is a short drive to many places of interest in the old gold mining area in the Sierra hill country.
all reviews » The location of the Sonora Inn is ideal coming out of Yosemite National Park. Sonora is a great small town but still has many amentities so we were able to find a good restaurant to eat at after a long day in Yosemite. Sonora Inn is quiet, comfortable and clean, which is all we needed. I would stay here again if in the area. Nice hotel staff and they offer a small hot breakfast. My boyfriend and I had rented a room for a weekend getaway. We got into the hotel later in the evening and the staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for a fun place to have a drink. The rooms were clean and cozy. I loved the king bed we got, yes it was slightly on the firm side, but it didn't really bother me. Overall, great hotel!. Good place to stay if you are leaving Yosemite in way to SF (or opposite). Beware only to open roads. In our case HW 120 was closed, so we had to take loooong trip from Yosemite to Sonora through mountains. But it is not hotel's fault Manager was very helpful even in late hours. I booked this hotel because its close to Yosemite Park,really good value for the money.Nice spacious room,clean,huge shower,quiet.Looked like the room was remodeled recently..had everything,coffee maker,hair dryer,iron and ironing table,flat screen Tv.Bed was confortable. A large room with probably at Cal-King bed. Clean linens. The wc and shower have a privacy door from the sink area. Arrived late, but was greeted promptly and given a ground floor room, for which we were grateful. Towels were rough but thirsty. I loved the bed, and although the pool area doesn't have lounge chairs it is in the perfect location to relax in the Sonora heat! The room was huge, parking was convenient and its in a nice quiet location. Exceptionally friendly. When we said we didn't smoke they gave us the owners suite, at no extra cost. Delightful The next morning we left early and the front desk was once again so friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was pretty nice and clean too. We drove to Jamesville for the evening meal which was fine but there is no restaurant at the motel. The only thing that was kind of lousy was the shower head. Sounds funny I know, but being 6 foot tall and the shower head being placed pretty low, made the whole showering thing an adventure in its own. Breakfast - pancaces and jelly only, you have to take to the room because there is no place in lobby to sit and eat. Wi-fi was on and off,couldn't get a good connection. We laughed. After talking about what a nice find this place was, we were sitting on the loveseat. As I was giving voice to my pleasure, my right fingers found a trimmed fingernail, on the back of the sofa. We agreed that wouldn't be "points off", but just a funny story. The lighting was a little "crime scene". Bring a couple of candles. The staff didn't have any recommendations, I found things to do and had a few plans anyway, but not really knowing the town/restaurants was surprising. Nothing to dislike. The breakfast choice is a bit limited, but what is available is quite nice (pancakes!). Nothing!!. Hot water was more warm than hot. Wifi signal was hit and miss, not reliable. Bed platform was just enough larger than the bed to smack shins a lot. Nothing in room to help guide a visitor around the local area. That we could not stay longer. A room for two guests should have 2 soap bars. :-). My unit had poor wifi reception ,breakfast was basic.minor plumbing issues -but hardly the end of the earth. Needed new furniture, was old and tired, but paint and fixtures were new. No place to eat breakfast, the traffic outside was non stop. It kept me awake most of the night. Did not like the bed due to the bed frame that was too big for the bed I bashed my knee three times. Couple next door was too noisy with their personal affections but that is not the motels fault. Nothing, for this price. Guests above us were up early and not exceptionally quiet. only smoking room was available but in acceptable conditions, no seating at breakfast. Coffee was not of a good quality and the bread selection should have had a good quality whole grain. They should have a more nutrious breakfast (i.e. oatmeal, etc) There was no microwave or refridge in our room as compared to having them when we stayed previously. - no place to eat while breakfast, you have to take it in your room. Breakfast no much because the is cheap? So no good. Breakfast started too late. The breakfast. The 'dining room' looked like a converted bedroom. No room for sitting,and so small that we had to juggle our food,put it on trays, and take it to our room to eat. No Vending... the paint on the bathroom door was peeling off. We were told the hotel was approximately 1 mile from the centre of señora (bars / restaurants) so we set off walking only to find the walk is about 2-3 miles on busy roads without footpaths. Taxi or own transport is definitely required. nothing. Breakfast was a little weak with no where to sit. Would have liked Hot Tub as pool was unheated. all good. le bruit du climatiseur. 1. Very weak signal for Wireless internet 2. No water purifier for coffee. There was no place for breakfast (due to renovation or something), so we had to take it back into our room. Our room wasn't quite ready at check in time. 3rd day maid service was very poor quality. Breakfast offered little protein. Breakfast could have lasted longer.
