We were pleasantly surprised to find the location was within walking distance to Belmont Park. We were also able to rent bikes and cruise the boardwalk as well as the bay. We rented a kayak and tootled around the bay. The room was comfortable and quiet. At check in, the clerk gave us all kinds of helpful info and answered all questions. The cafe served good food and the prices were reasonable-not super cheap, but not highway robbery either. All in all, it was a great trip.

Room lovely and great having the separate lounge area. We have been travelling around California for the last few weeks from New Zealand and this hotel is voted the kid's favourite so far!!. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! The grounds and location were fabulous. The beds were very comfortable. It was wonderful to have the kitchen, and the extra room with the couch and tables. The view from our balcony was incredible!. Everything! We enjoyed the ease in which everything was located. Loved the park-like pathways that crisscrossed over the stream (man-made). Food was good, staff was friendly, helpful, prompt and made us feel very welcomed. The location is beautiful - we were given a nice room with a balcony view of the roller coaster. There were hummingbirds in the trees outside our room, making it the perfect mission beach experience for us. Direct access to beach and bay; private patio; large room size with amenities such as in-room coffee, internet hookups and kitchenette; nice pool and spa area; nice garden with ducks and seals. Location, hotel on the bay side and 1 block down you have the ocean! Lots to do and places to eat. Very nice grounds and free ride on the bay on the Bahia Belle Paddle-wheel boat. Loved the location of the bay on one side the pacific on the other. Beautiful Resort with lovely rooms. Convenient to zoo and Sea World. Love to go back and stay longer. Location on the water was great. And also being able to watch Seaworld fireworks nightly was cool. Rooms clean and hotel facilities where great. Staff very helpful. The 4.00pm check out was a pain as once you arrive early afternoon you really want to get organised in your room and sort the kids as soon as possible. Only complaint though!!. The rooms, carpets, hallways are old. Intermittent issues with Wi-Fi- not a big deal to us just checking personal emails, etc. but could impact a business traveler. Bottled water available in the room came with a $3.50 charge; cafe prices are high considering that the food is only average; microwave does not come with free microwave popcorn so you have to bring/buy your own. Small problem at check-in but finally taken care of. A/C a bit noisy. No dishwasher for family of 6. Bathroom set-up was difficult to maneuver even with only two people. Pedestal-style sink with little room for toiletries was located inside same room as toilet/shower making it difficult for more than one person to get ready each morning/evening. The only complaint was not enough hot water but they were working on the plumbing. Room had a musty smell Only one mirror? Door latch on door frame stuck out too far. The coffee should be complimentary. The bathroom is quite outdated, need some remodeling. The lack of air con in the bed room was a very, very big let down. We were the late season and was still very hot. I would hate to be there in the hot weather. Also the signing in and our for pool towels is inconvenient and dated, we had electronic access cards to the pool area, surely that was enough? Ringing a bell and waiting for service, come on guys get real..... There were a lot of noises outside our room late at night and early morning. Noise of staff opening cupboards, and moving things around outside. Unfortunately we didn't sleep very well. Also, it is actually quite difficult to get to San Diego zoo from this location. You need to take a taxi because of the bus routes. Nothing. Thought it was a bit pricey. We cme there direct from the venetian in vegas which was outstanding and cost less!!!. Nothing. parking is limited / rooms need some updating. Furniture in room very old and worn. Time for renovation-I liked the retro feel of the property, however, the general feel of the room is a bit tired (ie: popcorn ceilings, bleached and peeling astro turf on balcony, plastic lawn chairs on balcony). The first check in employee was?????. The only negative was I got an item charge online on my mastercard that was an overbilling of a restaurant meal of $54.59. I questioned it and then there was an admission that an error was made and a credit was issued. If I had not caught it, somebody was ahead by $54.59. Food in restaurant was just average. There is nothing I didn't like. NON ASSIGNED PARKING Morning cafe wait staff need better training. Parking near our room was an issue. Hot water did not work, staff were very good and shifted us to an upgraded room but hot water system there was sub standard, constantly going cool while trying to shower. Restaurant, not enough staff n food was cold and not replenish fast enough. However, our waiter was excellent, but too many people to wait on. Could have at least had a complimentary breakfast. Just old room. Great Service.. The rooms were old , shabby and run down! Definitely not worth the room charge... Very disappointing!. Prix. The apartments were just so dated. For the price we paid, we expected something more modern and classy. Needs a big uplift. For that sort of money in Aus, we would be living in luxury. The infestation of coch roaches in our room!! And all they gave us was one night free! We paid for an upraded room on top of this. Disgusting!!!!!. Way to overpriced for what you get/they have to offer! Pool was not clean, leaves & bugs. I paid more than $150 a night the property is very old the stunk the, Heater had an odor, the grassy area was almost dead , the bath tub was not draining and dripping water all night. I really like the location I am not sure if I'll stay there again. My 12 yr was accousted on her way.from the lobby 2 our room. 3 24 years chased and scared a 12 year old to the point other guest heard and opened rooms to protect her. My room should be comp and I should be financially compensated ad the child involved had nighrmsres.and can not sleep alone. I have decided to go public after last nights nightmare.
