Inexpensive, location (right outside the gates of lab), continental breakfast. There are a lot of scary reviews of this hotel and I was worried but i'm 33..was going to visit my bf for his airforce graduation and I was pleasantly surprised. Sheets and towels looked and smelled clean and you can't beat the location if your goal is the airforce base. Room was just fine..some water damage on the ceiling tiles and the shower scalding you from time to time was the only thing negative I can think to .
all reviews » Staff was extremely accommodating, down-to-earth and very friendly! Anything we asked for, they were right there. Right outside the airforce base gates -- no traffic hassles back and forth to the base. Since so close to the base, heard the trainees practicing their drills and taps at night; the pool; clean linens and always enough; fridge and microwave; comfortable bed; onsite parking at no charge; super a/c!! Housekeeping; room was pretty quiet -- people were in the pool untill 10 or 11 and we. We selected this hotel because it was advertized as at the entrance to Lackland AFB and they weren't exaggerating. We were so happy with our stay there because we got to spend extra time with our grandson instead of stuck in traffic. For the price this was a great deal.Other hotels we've stayed at in this price range and found blind on the internet cannot compare. They always say you get what you pay for but with this you got more. afb. It was right next door to the air base it was very nice didnt have to wait in line and come and go as you wanted Rodney who checked us in was very helpful knew all the information about what was going on the base for our grandson bmt graduation if we needed anything he would take care of it. I loved how close we were to the base. It literally took us about 2 minutes to get to our sons living quarters!! Super close to everything we needed.I Had a great stay and appreciated the service I received from all of the employees I encountered. It was close to physician's office & to my niece's home who was celebrating her birthday; perfect location, convenient to walk my dog who was allowed to stay & important for me to take. Clean & comfortable. it was a nice clean hotel we were there for the Air Force basic training grad the hotel is only 100 yards from the gate we could walk to everything from hotel we enjoyed our stay great staff clean rooms great price. We liked the location next to Lackland. The staff was very helpful and really cared that the stay was pleasant. The location was so nice that we had no time wasted in travel that could be spent with my son. Pool and zacuzzi clean and directly in front of my room, no security problems as it is locateted adjacent to the entrance of the air force base where there was a presence of military police. I liked the fact it was minutes away from Lackland AFB but the beds were very uncomfortable the mattresses were too firm. It was great accommodations for the money and it was right at the gate to the AFB where we watched our soon .graduate. Liked how close it is to Lackland AFB. Easy access to Riverwalk/Alamo area. I would highly recommend Carefree Inn for any family of airmen graduating from Lackland afb bmt, who are on a budget and want convenience. You won' find a better deal. Location next to Lackland AFB is the best thing going for this location. The pool was clean and well maintained. The hotel was quiet at night and family friendly around the pool in the late afternoon and evening. This motels biggest plus is it's proximity to Lackland Air Force Base. If you don't care that it's old and in need of a major(professional) rehab and are on a budget, this is the right place. I was there for my sons graduation from Lackland afb, and the Inn was only about 100 Yards away from main entrance to the airbase making it a great location for my visit. The location to be near the air force base was the best without being on the base. It seems to be an older hotel so it was keep as clean as could be. Keep the shower head pointed down so you can step to the back...it will scald you 3+ times per shower!. Know going in that this is no ritz hotel -- it gives you what you need for why you're there -- no frills. The bathroom door stuck, the room door stuck a little, furniture older, exterior needs a little tlc -- no biggie --all pale in what you 're getting....extra time to spend with your grad!!!. I did not like the clean towel lady opening my room door at 730 or 830 in the morning, 10am should be the earliest! I shouldnt have to put a do not disturb sign up before 10. What if I had need naked!?. Kids running on second floor. nothing bad to say. The carpets were not thoroughly vacumned as there small items on the floor from the previous guests and an item left in the microwave. Need more wall plugins. Other than that it was great. The facility was very dated and could use upgrading. The rooms could have been a bit more tidy and smelling fresher, but for the price and convenience it was a small negative thing to endure. It needs some remodeling inside and out. The hot water was messed up and the shower would turn cold within seconds. could use A little updating but not too bad for the price. shower water kept going hot, cold, hot- but it was refreshing, lol. Room Safe door lock not working. Had to be fixed. Facet lever loose, and came off. Had to be fixed. TV had wrong Remote Control unit. Could not be fixed. had to ask for towels daily, dump trash, no coffee cups could be a little more user friendly. The people who check u in and out are not friendly. This is not a high class motel with lots of bells and whistles it is a basic, extremely affordable, convenient place to stay. The motel may seem a little low class but it gets the job done and the beds are clean, no bugs and the staff is friendly. You won't find a better deal. We were in room 240. The bathtub is falling through the floor and will eventually land in the bathroom below. The floor slopped down towards the tub so badly as to make me off balance when standing up from the toilet and I almost fell into the tub. Late night pool side passionate public displays of "affection" by young military personell and their skanky guests was highly distasteful and should have been controlled by the management. Old, needs a major rehab. Staff could have been a little better at replacing things that get used every day(I had to ask for towels the second day and coffee for the in-room coffee maker), but overall it's a good value for the money. If your spouse or child is graduating from bmt at Lackland afb, this place gets the job done. The rest rooms could use a little work...The toilets were very loose upon using them felt like they were going to break loose from the floor. It rain, inside the door the water pour in I called front desk and their reply was "It's only going to rain for two hours and it should stop." This was awful for we had to be somewhere during this time so we had rain to drip on us before we were out our door. Missing iron, broken hair dryer, missing coffee pot, missing vault key. pool and hot tub was not working some walls and frame work is in need of repair, beds in need of updating. The service wasnt good. The pictures that they have for their advertising, was not what it really is, was not what I expected. They have bugs in the place, I will never stay there again. The room was very dirty... Very very very dirty!!! I have pictures if you would like to see...would not recommend for a family stay sorry to dirty and gross... It was covenant for my stay that's it.... The room was not very clean. Lots of dirt in corners of room and bathroom. I would not walk barefoot on the carpet it was so filthy. The restroom was dirty, we had to clean it ourselves. I hope my comments help you all out to get better. run down needs a lot of upkeep. The roaches! The tile floors were visibly dirty and not cleaned for the four days I was there. I didn't like that it looked "cheap" and dirty. Got there at 5 pm and was told I had to wait 30 min for a clean room which did NOT fit into my schedule. Hot tub was not hot. Asked for some clean towels but staff didnt speak English so getting clean towels was a huge hassle. Went to use washing machine and it is broken, agitater floats. Door to bathroom broken and got woke up from guests walking around upstairs in middle of night. It wasn't a horrible stay but won't stay there again. They walked in on us twice to start cleaning before 10:00 am. When we told them to come back later they insisted on getting the towels. Then they never came back to make up the room. . The cleanliness of the Hotel. (Mold in Bathrooms, Leaks from the rooms above. The staff didnt know anything.the washing machine was broke. Our was changed without us knowing aheah of time. The room was horrible. No light in the bathroom .it was old and horrible. TV remote didn't work . No outlets available.
