The value for money of the Mayfair was excellent. The hotel is located downtown, with close access--two blocks-- to the excellent light rail system (which is useful for visiting a number of places outside of the core). There are a few very good restaurants nearby; I recommend Pi, a classy local pizza joint. The room itself was clean and well-appointed; no complaints there. Please know that this is an historic hotel, so the rooms are somewhat smaller than most modern hotels, but they are neverth.
all reviews The location was great. The parking wasn't as bad as people complained about, the garage isn't attached to the hotel no, but one block walk is not bad. The hotel suited our needs but definitely did not have any extras. The coffee bar downstairs was even closed the entire time we were there. Given that we were in town for a conference, you were located close to the venue and thankfully we were acommondated with twin beds. The staff that we came iin contact with were very hospitable. Location to most downtown attractions was very good. Great rooms with lots of space. Perfect location in downtown St. Louis, great price, lots of character, modern rooms. Very comfortable beds. Good hot water in the shower!!!!. Staff was friendly. Room was very clean and nice. Nice early registration, comfort of the room. Location, comfort of bed, exceptional staff. I did enjoy the location. The bed was very nice. Location. Only two minor complaints: Parking costs extra ($16 per night) at a secured parking garage across from the hotel. Figuring this price into the cost of the room, it is still great vfm. For some reason the bed had a flat sheet rather than a fitted sheet on the bottom layer, which was a bit annoying. I'm not sure if this was a fluke. We weren't too concerned since everything was very clean, but it was irritating that the bottom sheet would pull back a bit at night. Only one remote provided for two televisions. Coffee bar closed. Pool closed. That there were not any refigerator or micro wave was disappointing because you Did Not have a restaruant nor or shop for when one wanted a snack or to warm up food that you had to purchase out side of the hotel. Tv reception was very poor. A bit hard to find due to location. Not having microwave or fridge in the room. Cold water in friend's room, limited breakfast options, wifi did not work ( most of the time) on floor 16. Was under renovations so pool was closed. no bar or restaurant; not enough staff or limits to get rooms clean in a more timely manner. There was no hotel store/shop to buy water or snacks, which wouldn't normally be a big deal but there is also no restaurant in the hotel. After arriving in on a late flight I had to go next door to the Renaissance hotel to buy water and snack. There was no water supplied in the room and the bar in my room didn't have a mini-fridge so I could buy and keep drinks. The ceiling in shower was leaking and we called the front desk and nobody showed up to even look at the leak after they said someone was already on their way up. Staff was not responsive to needs. Very few amenities in hotel. Hard to regulate heat in room. Upkeep of facility is declining. rooms, staff appearance, not well cleaned rooms. fraying carpets, shower curtains that didn't fit, indifferent staff, looks well past it's days of glory!!. Pillows on bed were not good and a person should not have to pay that much for parking. Also the room was too small especially with the big tv in the middle. Lack of onsite parking, lack of concierge services (staff had little knowledge of nearby restaurants), appeared to be a group of "working girls" loitering close to the entrance of the hotel on Saturday night. Limited and no hot water for showers. No parking, pool closed and were not informed prior to booking had we known we would of not choosen this hotel. There was an entertainment center in the middle of the room the bathroom did not have a fan, and there was soap still out from the last guest. Service price condition of hotel no valet no restaurant bad value. Small hot room with no control over the temperature. No parking Room looks old and crappy.
