What people say

It was a very enjoyable stay. Our day started off at finding out that the Yosemite Nat'l. Park had just been closed . We had driven several miles to go through the park and was extremely disappointed when we were prevented from seeing the park due to it's closure. We decided to go to the hotel that we had booked and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was charming with french doors leading out to the patio area. It had an air of the past. .
all reviews The ladies who looked after us were wonderful, friendly, very accomodating and went out of their way to make our stay very memorable. It is because of their personal attention to our needs that will facilitate us coming back to stay there in the future. The place is very homey, a great place to relax and close to the southern entrance to Yosemite. Next time, we want to experience their restaurant, which was highly recommended to us by locals we talked with. Kudos to the staff!. Loved staying here. The ranch is full of character rooms are small, but there is loads of public space - several lounges with lots of cosy corners and even a piano which my son played every night! The swimming pool is a good size - great for cooling off after a day in Yosemite whic is right on the doorstep. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and there is an excellent restaurant which saved going out after a weary day in the park. Ted the owner out of his way to see that everything was taken care of properly and that we were comfortable. He came in to check about the food is being served at the restaurant I even spoke to Frank who is head chef who also was extremely concerned, they go out of there way to make sure they're providing the highest quality that you can receive food sleeping it was all great. Bath towels were awesome Food was 5 start History was top notch. Location was perfect for visiting Yosemite. Room was at the end of the corridor in the main house (no.9 I think) which meant we were also at the end of the outside verandah so that no-one passed our room - felt very private. Very comfortable room (though slightly dark but guess it was in keeping with the age of the ranch) Staff all very friendly and helpful. 3 lovely resident cats. Loved the lounge with the blazing fire. The style of the ranch was very nice. Staff always very friendly and helpfull. The rooms were small but sufficient. Breakfast was good (fresh orange juice, waffle-maker, bagels, cereals,...). Location: Just some vehicle-minutes from the entrance of the Yosemite away. Cute cats always around the range. Shopping / dining / food / everything available in Oakhurst (no 5 minutes by car). Quiet piecefull surrounding. Absolutely LOVED staying at this ranch! The ranch itself was beautiful (inside and out) and full of history. There is a big porch for every room and well kept grounds to be outside and take in the mountain air. It also has a perfect location: right outside of Oakhurst and not too far from Yosemite. The staff were excellent and friendly; making everyone feel at home. Will definitely stay here again!. Very good place situated close to the entrance to Yosemite National Park. The staff was great, very helpful and nice. The place has a lot of history and a pleasant atmosphere. In winter season the restaurant is not opened, but there are a lot of good restaurants few minutes by car from the ranch. A good buffet breakfast included. The history and ambiance. The location was ideal. The staff were so helpful and friendly. I can't wait to go back and stay longer. The restaurant was closed for the winter but we ordered in pizza which was delivered and it was superb, the best pizza. Owner kept the original interior and exterior design. Wood planks for the verandas. French doors open to view and veranda with side windows for ventilation. The feeling of tranquility. Dinner was very good. Your cornbread was wonderful. I enjoyed the location of the ranch and nature surrounding every aspect. I enjoyed the historical element and decorator with antiques items throughout the place. The food was good and very relaxing environment at the ranch. The ambiance of the ranch, the decoration and the location which is really pleasant because nestled in a forest. The staff is really nice that was a pleasure to stay in this hotel and I will recommend it. Has a great charm and charecter. Good location and property is nice. The nice common veranda adjacent to the room was fantasic to relax in the evening. Some cats were around that my son enjoyed. It was a charmful hotel; the person at the frontdesk was extremely helpful and nice. Location is great, very close to south entrance of Yosemite NP. Could be a great retreat for relaxation. The staff were extremely friendly The place had a great history The rooms were adjoining, and the kids each got a single bed to themselves. The setting was beautiful Very close to Yosemite. staff were really nice, they helped us a lot even though we arrived very late. On-site restaurant is really good. Location is magic! Perfect place to relax before/after hiking in Yosemite. Great location nearby the southern gate/ Mariposa Grove of the Yosemite Park. Hotel is a former Ranch and has a lot of charme and is located in a beautiful landscape. Good restaurant. Yes, this was a very cool and pleasant stay! The rooms were nice, clean and spacious, the nearby pool had free-to-use relaxing chairs and the whole thing just had a good vibe to it. Lovely location, close to yosemite and other great spots e.g.Bass Lake. Very warm atmosphere with great staff and quaint historic building and matching decor.Great evening meals. Staff were excellent-helpful & efficient. Joey, the Manager, & James who served the breakfast were brilliant. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We'll definitely be back. Love everything about it. So cozy. Very nice staff. We were there only for a night but this is such a nice place to stay. It feels like being away from everything. Building with a lot of history and character. Amazing service. Very reasonable prices. Nice common areas with fireplaces and board games. Four cats and a dog. The staff were great and friendly. The restaurant Food was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable. The ranch was a good location. Everything was clean. We loved this accommodation and it's very relaxing environment. We would definitely go back and only wished we had stayed here longer than our 2 nights. Really friendly staff and relaxing environment. Location really good for visiting Yosemite (by car). Their restaurant also good value for your money. We liked the dollar bills on the bar walls and the delicious breakfast. The staff and cats were friendly and the relaxed atmosphere was refreshing. This was a working ranch in the 1800s. Nice old building and comfortable beds. Staff all very friendly. Plants and pool and pretty country side. Old fashioned western ranch house is lovely. Well located at the south entrance to the Yosemite National Park. Very friendly staff. Interesting building, nice restaurant, and proper breakfast included..also handy for yosemite park and a pool if you have the time. Charming old Inn, glorious location in Sierra Woods, helpful staff, comfortable & settled. Thoroughly recommended. Situation/position Old world atmosphere Furnishings Public rooms Helpful staff Breakfast Comfortable bed and pillows. There was a great history to this place that is shared with guests as they check in. Cabin feel to the place...;-). We loved staying here after a wonderful day in Yosemite. Wonderful & friendly.....we would go there again. Very welcoming and nice staff, the place is beautiful and rural. Very close to the South entrance of Yosemite. Very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. Wonderful old lodge to "hang out" in. Lovely surroundings. The lodge and historic nature of the facility. Very polite staff. Beautiful setting. Close to Yosemite. Free honeymoon surprises! Great friendly staff! Near to yosemite valley, so great location! Must stay!. Wonderful location. Atmosperic. A genuine western ranch as frequently by John Wayne and others. The staf was very friendly, great location, goid restaurant, nice rooms, great nature around!. Very nice place, very welcoming personnel, calm and quiet place to stay. Comfortable beds. The peace and tranquility. We only stayed one night but would love to have stayed longer. The sitting rooms were great. You could enjoy relaxing and visiting in a warm setting. lovely old style ranch, good restaurant, quaint rooms.Whatch out for the GM. Joey!!. Nice & friendly staff. Very close to Yosemite NP. Nice ranch decoration. Location to Yosemite was ideal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good. A ranch with a ton of character. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The outside deck, the atmosphere and it felt comfortable like a home. Love the staff. They were all wonderful and the food was excellent. Location, setting, friendly atmosphere, food, veranda, yea an coffee. Hotel design, friendly personnel, good restorant for dinners, cats. Probably the only complaint was that the lighting in the room was a bit dark. It went with the motiff of the "olden days". This didn't cause us any problems as we sat out on the patio to read and use my computer. Room to small really should have only 1 bed not 2. But the building was not built as a motel to start so I adjusted. Need bathroom hooks for towels. Parking lot needs to a be paved. What was there not to like?. Wifi was slow. The breakfast room was a bit cold - heating would help. Did not have long enough there. To many dry items offered for breakfast. Restroom in our room did not have an inner door knob to close the restroom door and we had a group of people in the room. Some live entertainment would have been nice, even a solo person playing a guitar in the restaurant at night to complete the ambiance. No microwave in the room or common area had to go to the kitchen for it and needed staff to help you with it. The rooms are a tad smaller but comfortable. nothing really, if I would have to say anything, it would be that the shower (and bathroom) is a little outdated... The breakfast was somewhat ordinary, but as far as continental breakfasts go, quite acceptable. nothing, really. Bathroom seemed to be somewhat outdated but was clean and acceptable. Although the restaurant served decent food, yet it wasn't great. Breakfast was also mediocre: they use cheap ingredients. What I'm basically saying: there is room for improvement here!. The breakfast could have been slightly better, just the addition of fruit for example. Oakhurst is a tiny bit further from Yosemite than El Portal, but the character of this hotel is well worth the extra trip. Room Price was a bit high. Was a bit further to the main attractions of Yosemite national park than we first thought. The bathroom was cheaply and poorly finished. The toilet paper holder kept falling off the wall and the shower head came out of the wall with a very visible gap. The water was hot and the place was clean, though. It was a long drive from Yosemite. It is 10 miles from park exit but it was at least an hr drive out of the park to get to the south exit on 41. After driving an hr to get out of the park (from the Yosemite Valley) then we had another 10 miles to go. Room is a little bit small. But considering the long history of the facility, it is acceptable. Toilet cistern kept jamming. Restaurant let the rest down while I stayed-most menu choices unavailable. Breakfast promises much but didn't deliver. Bedroom a little musty Outside areas neglected/scruff. Could use a bit of maintenance, but certainly wouldn't stop me from going there again... Nothing. Needs a little upkeep and maintenance, but all worth it for the setting. Maybe the breakfast was a little simple. But not that big of a deal. Perhaps a little tired, one felt its heyday has passed. Nothing at all!!!!. Liked everything. We had just a small concern over the lack hooks to hang towels and clothing in our bathroom, room 3. Thanks. Nothing. Pool had a lot of leaf material and needed to be skimmed before we could swim. We did it but pool probably needs to be skimmed a couple times a day in peak season. The bathroom window did not close and the toilet ran all the time if not worked with. We left a jar of elk meat from my sister in law in the refrigerator. The rooms were a little small and the bathrooms could use some updating. Pool could have been cleaner, loved it but just needs a bit of money spending on it for example new carpets throughout but overall a Fabulous e perience and would go again, simple but delightful great for weddings of a get away break. Breakfasts could be improved, heating is really terrible - blows strongly to the bed, very loudy and uncomfortable, in addition we realized stings of some insects (bugs?).
