We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the hotel and location were nothing like the bad reviews we saw.The staff were polite and helpful and the hotel facilities were good value for money. Downtown was only a 5 minute drive and parking was free on riverside drive which was only a 5 minute walk from beale street. Front desk people were very helpful in giving specific directions. Internet computer was fast and always available. Adjacent parks were pleasant to be able to bird watch. The location was extremely handy., but I knew that from an earlier stay.

The shuttle service they offer is wonderful and they are very fast!. The place has changed hands in the 11 years since I was last there and seemed to have been painted on the inside. The grounds were untidy with debris that had been there for a long time. This was unpleasant to see everyday. Breakfast is very basic. no pool ,no work out area. Not a lot of restaurants near by. Gross. Showers and room were full of mold. Had to leave the door open to simply "air out" the horrible smell of stale air. No hot water. The showers were disgusting and hardly left a feeling of cleanliness. And also clean the spiderwebs from your balcony railings. It was like the amazon out there. The area is a bit run down but we already knew that, To those of you who arent from the Memphis area it may seem very... sketchy, but to those of us who are familiar with the area we know that most of Memphis is pretty run down unless you are in certain areas. Not so clean, everything rather run-down, a broken tile in the bathroom was even dangerous. very old, poor neighborhood, needs updating bad. Tv was knackered. color was gone and everybody looked like a smurf. screen was blue in the middle and pink on the edges. not easy to get to; hotel is old and needs to be updated. Dirty pool Too far from city center. air condition a bit noisy. Need a better breakfast. not so clean (furniture, cupboaords) you have to pay for the shuttle to downtown. No face towels. Old and run down in an old rundown area ,no shopping nearby,can't walk to town as you need to cross the interstate. The letsbookhotel.com price was the same price as if i would have called to reserve my room. This Graceland Downtown Location is located in a part of town that is not Vacation travel welcoming. Surrounding area looks as if it had been through a war and for then forgotten. Parking is a difficult because it is angled parking. You pull in and park, but when you have to leave you have to manuever around the angled parking because the lot does not wrap around the building. I hate being negative, but the whole place reeked of cigarette smoke, was run down and in a poor state of repair. Pool empty and unused despite being advertised on web-site. Allocated a room that was being decorated - then transferred next door where TV didn't work. Location in a poor area. The place was visited by some very noisy people without manners and consideration of others. Maybe it's their nature to be like that, but it is still unacceptable to talk so loud and stand in a bunch that you cannot get through doors. Also to come to breakfast in payamas!!!!. This Super 8 is in need of repair. The pics on-line did not show the "area" surrounding the building which was an eyesore to say the least!. needs remodel bad, dirty rug torn drape broken exhaust fan old musty smell table ready to fall over never did find ice machine neighborhood run down very little parking etc. One staff wanted charged 20 usd to take us to the airport instead of charging the price described on the hotel's wall. It was gross. Didn't like front desk clerk he seem not know what was going on. Everything in the hotel looked tired which would not have been a problem if it had been clean. Some of the staff were friendly but we felt they were always trying to make more money out of us and we were being taken for a ride, literally. The breakfast was as expected bad, and the staff wanted to rush to clear it away, we didn't bother with it the second day. We will not be staying in a super 8 again. We should have listened to advice of others!. the location, the rooms, it was just gross. They room was dirty and not very comfortable. The hotel was disgusting - filthy, badly located - we had to leave after seeing the room. letsbookhotel.com should not be offering this hotel on their website, in doing so it does a disservice to their customers. Hotel was very shabby,rooms needed freshened up a lot with some tlc. I would not have this motel on my web site until things improved regards joseph allen. nothing, it was the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed at. I mentioned to them about the trash outside my door and the flies, having to put a towel in the shower to shower. Hair all over the place. Felt like I needed bug spray to stay there. We left a day ahead of time due to accomodations. The toilet ran, the smoke alarm beeped, the lamp between the beds was broken, it smelled, we were locked out of our room the third night, had to go down to the office late night and get the card re-activated, breakfast was gross, always out of coffee and no offer to make more. It was filthy, the staff was hateful, it was the worst motel we have ever been to, tried to stay somewhere else upon arrival, but all other motels close were booked, we were stuck!. Poor Hotel.
