The property was clean, spacious, safe and generally well equipped. Facilities and services compare very well to the Copley Plaza in Boston & other 5 star places I've stayed. Truely an 'old world quality' facilty for 1/3 the price. The Hotel is beautiful, the rooms were wonderful, the pool perfect for family with all age children. The staff was great. Room service was excellent and the filet mignon was perfect.

Room service was excellent! However, the selection could be better. I forgot my swim trunks and woul have paid very well for a Crowne Plaza pair, but maybe others would not. Breakfast was horrible. I had the buffet they only thing that had any taste at all were the scrambled eggs. My Daughter and granddaughter ordered from the menu stack of pancakes they were not edible. The waitress offered to have them remade but we did not see any point . Pool was closed. No Continental Breakfast. I know there is a restaurant in the hotel but it is to expensive and not good for a quick breakfast on your check out day. Even though the hotel was not at all full, the front desk initially put me in a room with double beds (in letsbookhotel.com I specified 1 king), on the 3rd floor, in the middle of the hall. I returned, got the king bed, on the ground floor, at the end of the hall for privacy. Basically, the front desk should have checked my preferences and/or asked. no parking due to 2 events (military ball and dog show) at the same. The pillows!. Late night bar server was unsure about everything on the menu. Not great service during breakfast at restaurant. I did not like the breakfast served in the restaurant. Hotel is quite remote unless you are there for Churchill Downs or the Fairgrounds. Shuttle would not go beyond 3 miles, so we were forced to rent a car. No refrigerators in rooms meant no cream for coffee (except the powdered mystery stuff) or in-room snacks/drinks. 6th floor hallway had a foul odor although rooms were okay. If you are going to visit the city of Louisville, there are much better hotels with better access downtown. Vending machine empty, 2nd vending machine in an enclosed, hot room which smelled of urine. Staff could not recommend a place for food after midnight - we discovered the place that delivered to the hotel. My room was at the end of a veryyyyyy long hallway. I could hear dripping sounds in the wall every time somebody above me used the bathroom. The facility was poorly maintained. Very sad for a 4 star hotel. The bathroom sinks and tub were clogged, the toilet kept running. Room looked worn down and old. Smell in the hallways. Housekeeping services questionable. The sheets worn down to a thread and even had small holes. Very expensive for what you get. Too far from downtown. The beds were the worst we have ever experienced at any hotel and the carpets were very dirty. There was always an "interesting" smell in the hallways and room. I am not sure if the restaurant was affiliated with the hotel but the service there was completely horrid. Ended up walking out after being ignored by the staff who was more concerned with their cell phones and personal business.
