For starters, I am a woman who was traveling alone on a budget. I needed affordable yet safe accommodations. At The Kearney, I had the best of both worlds. The staff was amazingly friendly- the owner of the motel even gave me free bottled water when I asked for a machine. The room was spotless and smelled of fresh pine cleaner but was not over bearing. The ambiance was what I would call kitschy and playful. The sealing was beautifully painted like a spectacular night sky and even offered effect.

The owners take obvious pride in this small motor court, with refurbished rooms, wood floors and new tile in the bath, and a beautiful mural on the ceiling. Located on a small residential side street, I felt safe. I'll be back when traveling on business in the area. The room was outstanding with hardwood flooring, lots of tile and a painted ceiling that the black light in the room made for a very soothing stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Unigue and different in that its floors were wisely made so cleanliness was notably the reason and it had the feel of classic 50s with big screen aminities and the cealing was a bonus. Super friendly owners, spacious room, close to Hwy 1, but in a side lane, so (for LA) quiet, I booked it again, on my way back... The location, the bed, the cleanliness of the whole room, the ceiling and the nice attitude of the owner :-). The ceiling and the bed was comfortable. Cool ceiling,hardwood floors,microwave,refrig. Comfy bed,quiet atmosphere,huge flat screen! Our car parked right in front of our room. Rose garden,nice managers/owners, gave us cold bottles of water after a hot day! :-). The staff was nice. Family business. Bed was comfy. Pretty clean. Although there was nothing I can complain about,I loved my motel stay, I want to mention the bed is a bit hard; of course, this is a personal preference issue. I would also love if they placed a coffee maker in the room:) And, as a parent, I feel it necessary to point out that if you are traveling with children, be aware that when I turned on the television, hardcore porn was the first thing to come on. I couldn't care less; however, I was not with my kids!. Parking requires you to either back in or back out all the way to the street. This does make for a more secure feeling. Few ants in bathroom, everything else veeeerrrry pleasant. nothing to complain. Tight parking. The mirrors creeped me out a bit but other than that it was good. Rooms could use maybe a rack connected to outside of bathroom door for hanging clothes. If they put inexpensive mini 4cup coffee makers coffee/cream & sugar in rooms, I'll be back! We didn't get to stay long enough! :-/. You could listen to everything through the walls. Kind creepy with the mirrors all over, could be just me.
