Stepping into this hotel, you are instantly greeted by truly friendly people. The hotel rooms all look into an amazing courtyard complete with a smallish sparkling clean pool, a gorgeous waterfall/pond filled with fish, full size propane bbqs placed into the various seating areas designed to create gathering space for guests and native flowers bring it all together. It is quiet and relaxing but it is the people who work there who have created an inviting and welcoming space to stay. They do .
all reviews » Staff was great. We called ahead and got great recommendation for dinner (La Posta which was fabulous atmosphere and food.) Warmly welcomed at checkin and escorted to room. Complimentary chips and salsa; a/c and refrigerator turned on for us. If we were staying longer we could have better enjoyed the koi pond, desert garden and grill. Secured parking was appreciated. I believe this property was recently acquired by new owners and it is apparent they are working hard to make it better. The . I would call this hotel a unique artistic recycling of an older property. I liked the owners, an engineer and a writer/gardener/photographer. Loved the koi pond/desert garden, artistic and whimsical. Being shown to our room, with chips and dip was a nice personal touch. They obviously care about people to having a good experience. loved having my car 2 steps out the door. Personally I would stay there again because of the owners and the creative rapport I feel with them. Bed comfy, room clean. The owner, Elina, is amazingly friendly and courteous. We were driving from la and didn't get in until after midnight. We were exhausted but she was so welcoming that it felt like we were arriving at a friends home. She even brought chips and salsa to our room one night and sweets another night! The courtyard is lovely and inviting. The room is cool, clean, comfy, and quiet. And the biggest chile in the world is just outside the front door!! Really happy to have found this place!. The charm of this motel was the inner courtyard koi pond and waterfall which set a relaxing and meditative tone along with the Southwestern garden design. I felt like I was in Mexico on a vacation. The hosts were congenial, artistic and the chips and salsa on arrival added a warm, personal note. I did my Qigong in front of the pond and it set my day off to a good start. Kudos to Elina and Dave and the Big Chile out front!. David provided a warm and friendly welcome for us and made an excellent referral for dinner - The Rendezvous - very good French themed food - affordable and great value. Older, dated room but perfect for our one night stay. Comfy bed and clean bathroom. Flat screen TV. Free wifi. Close to interstate. Light complimentary breakfast. Good value for money. Highly Recommended. David and his wife were awesome the were very friendly. The room was clean and neat and they read the special request that I wrote in the comment section when I booked the room and were able to have it ready before we arrived. The koi pond and garden were awesome. Dont let the front of the building fool you. Its a great place to stay. Staff was very welcoming and warm. Check in and out were painless. Impeccable grounds and comfortable ammenities not often found at this budget. Also loved the closed gate for parking that lended extra security and peace of mind. Fast, free wifi. While visiting you have to eat at the Port de la Mesilla restarant. Changing my room after I arrived so that I could park my motorcycle right next to my door literally five feet away. Room is dated, but I believe new owners are actively working at that. To compare this with a corporate owned hotel would be unfair. These people are trying very hard against some tough odds. It's still an old hotel, in an old part of town. But that makes it quieter. Nothing really screamed bad at me, because I was aware of their caring. The location was in an older part of town an earlier motel strip. There was a cafe next door and a few restaurants nearby. Las Cruces would be a good winter location. The weather gets too hot and the terrain is stark. Nothing. The sink water was a bit funny. Not sure if this was the hotel or just how new mexico is. The only thing I could recommend would be to add a permanent hair dryer to the bathrooms, as well as increase the number of soaps/shampoos. Otherwise, everything was great!. Pet fee ($10). I am against those. I travel with a crate, cover for bed, and bags for picking up poop. If I would have known about pet fee, I would have stayed at an lq (slightly higher for a room, but no pet fee). The mattress was a bit hard for my tastes, but fine for my husband. Because the big franchises always include one I forget to take a hair drier sometimes, this was one of those times. Outdated bathroom. Poor continental breakfast (no fruits, yogurt, granola, whole/multi grain bread...). Nothing to dislike. Suggest time posted for the breakfast. Off the beaten path, not too impressive from the outside but really nice inside, Breakfast left a lot to be desired. However, they were remodeling. Not a thing. location is quirky, but most of las cruces is quirky. it's just fine. Breakfast is a little weak. But for the money I didn't expect much. Old building with an old smell, Not a very good breakfast. Not the most modern facility, but clean. It was a little messy with the reconstruction going on... Hotel/Motel is a bit tired and could do with a general tidy up. Had trouble finding the place using gps. Nothing. restaurant not within walking distance.
