Hotel was right downtown on the water front and walking distance from most anything downtown. The people mover also stops here so its easy to get back to the hotel or visit any of the other locations in downtown. The staff was extermely friendly and helpful. Parking was very easy as well as it was on the side of the building and had direct access to the hotel through a covered walkway. The staff was very helpful Im sure alot of us at the Tattoo convention were wild but they treated us very well Volt bar in the lobby was on point fast drinks I personally love how they have a cvs ,a cafe with mcdonalds,subway,burger king and a few others it sucks they were not all open (zoups and a few others) but it was well worth the money I will book here every year!.
all reviews » The rooms were great. The views were awesome. Our "junior suite" was awesome. Helpful staff. We got an omlette breakfast that was delicious; loved the hash browns too--Everything hot. Loved the Riverwalk. We were able to get into our room on early on Tiger’s opening day. Management had plenty of staff on hand to manage the long check-in line….Excellent Job!. Fun to "stay" at GM Headquarters, a seventies architectural landmark (once the highest hotel in the world), with a 10 km riverwalk at your doorstep. I loved the location. Having the Detroit People Mover right there at the Renaissance center made for traveling various parts of downtown with ease. We went to watch the Ford Fireworks. The patio of the Volt restaurant was a great place to watch them. Great location, loved the view of Canada from our room and the beds were comfy. the view from the 67th floor, very comfortable bed. Close proximityh to Cobo center. Tv - valets did great job even though very busy. The room was starting to show its age. The bathroom was a bit small because of the circular design of the building. None of that was a big deal but because of the design of the GM place the building was very difficult to figure out where to go to get into the hotel and out of the building. I suspect now that I have spent time there once I know the layout its not as confusing but for a 1st time visitor was a bit overwhelming with all the different levels and floors. My phone did not get good service in the room!. Access to a microwave would have been nice. Also, that big empty parking lot on the north side bordering the Riverwalk was a shame--What a great place to be able to park and walk, especially for families bringing strollers, etc. Got lost a couple of times in the building, but that added to the experience. The hotel was beautiful, but I did not feel the hotel room was worth the value to pay over $200.00 a night. I have stayed at less luxurious hotels and have experienced more comfort and space. We were told the place to watch the Ford Fireworks was the Volt Restaurant patio. They told us the doors would open @ 7pm first come first serve. We went down early about 5:45 and they had already opened the door. We were lucky there was a couple that shared their table with us otherwise we would have had to stand for 4 1/2 hours. After tax and parking it cost $265 About the same as Opreland hotel in Nashville , which is much a nicer hotel. Too pricey hope I don't have to stay there again. 1. Extremely over-priced for the services provided 2. No morning paper 3. No free internet access 4. Over-priced room service 5. No breakfast 6. No airport shuttle. Quite bad and rude customer service. It was really crowded because of the music festival but still I'm a guest and I didn't feel welcomed. Simply I will never recomend this place to anybody whatsoever. Way too expensive for a very basic room - could get nicer room at Red Roof Inn - no fridge - blood or ? on two pillow sheets? Check in is at 3 - had to argue just to get in the room at 6 (said they were so busy they couldn't keep up with getting rooms ready) - was going to tigers game at 7 - not cool for $249! (plus tax of course). did not like room location for view. sheets wowld not stay on bed.because of sheets the matress pad was lumpy.was not worth the money wat to expensevive.
